In Mikkeller we have over the years done many collaboration brews. However, the last one we did was a little unusual – we collaborated with the Swedish tattoo studio Crooked Moon.
The two brothers Jacob and Jonas Pedersen that run Crooked Moon Tattoo in Helsingborg wanted to celebrate their tattoo studio’s first birthday with a big party, and what could be more natural than to do it with a beer in their own name?
The two brothers have designed the labels for this beer. And therefore this beer comes with two different labels. One by of Jacob, and the other by Jonas.
The beer is just like a Crooked Moon tattoo: strong and powerful. In this case we are talking about a violently hoppy double IPA with 9% alcohol.

Bottle at Bierencafé De Heks, Deventer. Aroma is fruity, pine resin, tropical fruits, citrus, peach, some orange, a slight floral note, big juicy hops. Flavour is light sweet and above medium bitter. Body is medium. Very tasty peachy fruity IIPA, easy drink.

Bottle at home. Pours a golden light amber with a thick, clear white head. Light sweet fruity aromas and obviously also a very hobby aroma aswell. Orange, mango, passion fruit, citrus and some caramel. Tastes very bitter (not extremely but alot) but then there’s a fresh and tropical fruityness that hits you. A very long-lasting sweet taste.

Tap at Mikkeller Tokyo. Very nice, light booze, coconut touches, tropical fruit. Aroma is stinky tropical fruit, house IPA style, still coy (?!) and fruity. Very enjoyable. Left the probable spelling mistake in this rating in case I somehow touched on something. --- Beer merged from original tick of Crooked Moon Tattoo dIPA on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:05 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 9 | Flavor - 9 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 8. Bottle. Blonde. Unripe peach and herbal hops in the aroma. Herbal grassy hopbitter flavor with citrus, unripe peach and mango. Malty, but not too sweet and slightly alcoholic. Lovely!

330ml can. Hazy golden orange with a frothy off-white head. Lots of tropical fruits and piney resin on the nose, orange, citrus. Taste of orange marmalade, pine, resin, tropical and citrus fruit, sweet malts, caramel, chewy. Medium body, thick mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Great old school DIPA.

0.33 l bottle. Tasting session with Višnja 666 and Pilot Goran in the summer of 2017. Hazy golden, medium off-white head. Citrus aromas, malts with some acidity. Alcohol, light sour, fruity. Medium body, moderate carbonation, fruity finish. Strange.
