Dark brown, cloudy. Aroma has caramel, vegetables and yeast. Sweetish caramelly flavor. Thin and yeasty. Sticky mouthfeel. Disappointing.

Kaunis tummanruskea olut vaahtoaa heti korkin avaamisen jälkeen todella runsaasti, olut suorastaan haluaa ryöpytä pullosta ulos. Vaaleanbeige vaahto on todella pysyvää ja kivasti pitsiä jättävää. Tuoksu maltainen, karamellinen ja tumman hedelmäinen, banaaninen. Maultaan olut on maltainen, melko makea, tumman hedelmäinen, mutta ehkä hieman pliisu. Katkeroa hyvin kevyesti. Suutuntuma on yllättävän kevyt/ohut ja kohtalaisen hiilihappoinen.

Arend’s brown beer with rocky, yellowish white, delicate, nicely lacing head and dark burgundy colour, clear but cloudy after adding the deposit. Strong fruitiness in the nose, apple sauce, elderberry, chocolate, liquorice, meat broth, juniper berries, soapy hops, port wine, walnuts. Dried fruitiness in the mouth, well rounded, medium carbo, spicy accent, nutty and chocolatey maltiness, leafy hop bitterness in the finish, long and dry with some gin-like warming alcohol.

Bottle @ Groote Witte Arend, Antwerpen. Dark brown colour, beige foam. Medium carbonation. Aroma of light roasted malts, caramel and dark fruit. Bit thin and not very well balanced. Decent, nothing special.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - BB 19/01/14, at Gastropub Tuulensuu, 20140609) The beer poured deep ruby red and clear. Its head was small and white. Aroma had caramel, dark fruits, ripe banana and malts. Palate was surprisingly light bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, dark fruits, ripe banana, sweetness, malts, dark chocolate and low bitterness. Aftertaste was malty and bitter. A nicely aged brew. I’m sad that I have had no possibilities to try this one as fresh.

330 ml bottle. Pours a clear mahogany with big head. Aromas of sweet malts, raisins, copper and brown sugar. Flavors of raisins, light caramel, and malt extract. Nice lighter Belgian to go with dinner.
