Our first ever recipe in 2001, Highlander's ability to stand the test of time is testament to its quality. Proudly traditional, Highlander is the punchy, bittersweet amber ale that Fyne Ales was built on. A nutty, caramel-malt body with sweet red fruit notes and a gently bitter finish.

500ml bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours clear amber, thin white head. Aromas of caramel malt and red fruit, light citrus. Taste is more toffee-sweet, good orange bitter finish though. Nice.

Bottle. Amber in colour, not much head. Has a mix of a small orange citrus taste with an obvious grain quality.

Bottle at De Molen, November 2013 Second Tuesday Tasting. Poured a clear medium amber with a thin white head. The aroma is rich hoppy caramel. The flavour is medium bitter. Medium bodied, soft carbonation and a thin texture. The palate is metallic bitter with a short bitter finish.

Bottle shared at the De Molen monthly tasting. Pours clear amber with a small off white head. Aroma of fudge, malt, toffee, citrus and a slight fruitiness. Flavour is over moderate sweet and moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Clear light copper beer with a creamy head. Aroma is quite citrusy. Flavour is a lemony hit and hop with quite a refreshing, floral finish.

Cask at Gallows Bird, Espoo. Originally rated 07092012. Colour is clear copper with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Sweetness, toffee, malts and some hops.

Cask at Three Tuns, Dronfield - Nice bright amber/dark golden with very thin white head, caramel malt nose with great balance of citrus hops, roastiness and toffee caramelised orange. Crisp, dry plenty of malt and very clean taste, with a rich orangeness to the finish. A very well balanced beer.
