A dark beer of premium-class and most popular in its region: these dark brown to black beers have a mild-roasted malty character without the associated bitterness. As speciality beers, they have a full body with a gently enhanced malty flavour and an aroma with low to moderate levels of sweetness. Hop bitterness is low to medium in character.

Bought at Deutsche Market, Tirana. Wässrig malziger Antrunk. Spritzig herb, im Mittelteil kaum noch malzig, die dunkle Farbe hätte man sich sparen können. Laff, minimal würzig im Nachgeschmack. Langweilig. 8/8/8/6/7/7

This "dark beer" poured a dark? colour with a average, light tan coloured head. Scents include roasty malts, light molasses and caramel. First swig was quite thin and a little watery. Flavours of mild caramel and coffee with a lite dark chocolate thrown in. Finish is roasty with caramel flavours lingering.

Pours a clear copper-amber colour with a frothy warm cap that lasts a while and patchy foam lacing is left. Sweet nose with caramel and chocolate malts. Grainy and some plastic notes. The hops in the taste are even more plasticky at first, with the caramel and molasses taking over mildly in the middle to have a little dry grass in the finish. Gets better with time. Not bad for $2/can. DAB is always a cheap alternative to cheap cans that are better than average.

Many thanks for this can to Grzesiek79. Black colour with a moderate creamy and quickly diminishing beige head. Aroma is light toasty, notes of raw cereal and slightly ashes.

Can from Lidl. Piwo ciemno brazowe z ciemna rubinowa poswiata. Kremowa i trwala piana sporych rozmiarow. W smaku slodowe lekko palone wyczuwalny aromat ciemnych owocow.

Didn’t care much for the regular DAB. This is darker but not really dark. No head. Has a sweeter aroma, it’s a little malty. Seems to be pretty strong in the alky smell. Also some wet burned wood in there too. Taste is a little bitter but I think this is better in flavor than the original DAB. Interesting offense on the back center palate. Yes, is a darker lager flavor, something like an American dark lager. On par with Alambra Negra and Nova Paka Granat. I’ve tasted better dunkels like Becks dark and Weltenburger. Mild bland rear aluminum tooth taste. OK for a dark beer. Probably would not purchase again considering the other offerings out there. Overall, nice to have had a chance to try this.

Very thin. Minor roasted aroma and flavor, with just a little smoke. Along the lines of Warsteiner dark.

2004 bottle from Julio’s. Pour is a drab black olive-grey meets dark chestnut brown, very clear and transparent with a poorly retained, fizzy beige head. Aroma and flavor smell like Earl Gray tea, which is fine with me, but it certainly dosent smell much like a dunkel. That’s the first thing that came to mind and it stuck. Dry, black tea leaves, light herbal notes, light nuttiness. Perhaps some light anise flavoring and a very very faint touch of sweet malt on the finish. Peppery carbonation, light body.
