Voor de Wittoen vervangen we de hop door een aantal ouderwetse kruiden. Uiteindelijk bekomen we een subtiel gearomatiseerd, amberkleurig bier. Zeker proeven!

5th And final beer in my random tasting evening 12 Aug 2011. The brown 33cl bottle had a plenty of life left when opened: poured into a Westy chalice ensuring no sediment left the bottle. Good amber body, thick white head of bubbles, which gave lines of lacing as the beer level sank. The smells were semi-sweet malty molasses with a mini floral feel in there somewhere. The beer is initially sweet and hearty, becoming drier as the mouth drys between sips, the malts giving way to whatever the other ingrediants might be. Heavy carbonisation, but not ’fizzy’, suited the flavours to be lively rather than flat-ish. The alcohol aslo fitted in well with the overall experience. A long way from a world beater, but a steady Tripel in all respects.

Bottle @ home, shared with Thompson. Hazy opaque dark orange color, full sized white head. Smell sour and sweat. Tastes sour, sweaty, a little musty and unbalanced. Medium carbonation, low to medium body.

Clear amber with a good coat of cream head. Aroma of peaches, pears, apples and a little cheese. Taste is sweet with some of those fruits and some sugar. Dryish finish has some hints of pepper and cloves. Well-balanced but lacks oomph.

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, amber colour with a big and slightly off-white foamy head. Yeasty and slightly sugary malty aroma with a tinge of caramel and sour-fruity notes. Moderately sweet flavour, medium to full bodied with a rather calm carbonation. Initially malty and moderately citrus- fruity taste with spicy accents towards the sweet and slightly bitter hoppy finish. Unexciting brew. 31.X.10

330 ml bottle. Amber body with a fine white head and much carbonation. Aroma of sweet citric fruit, mild malt and yeast. Flavor is mild, sweet malt, fruit, yeast, spices and some bitterness. Quite average, some degree of complexity, but too sweet.
