Het Meesterstuk van 2012 is een Russian Imperial Stout met 10% alcohol. Het Meesterstuk is gebrouwen met gerstemoutsoorten en geroosterde roggemout en heeft een krachtige volle smaak. De geroosterde moutsoort zorgt voor het gebrande karakter dat doet denken aan koffie en chocolade. De Amerikaanse hopsoorten geven het bier zijn fruitige karakter. Het hoge alcoholpercentage en de nagisting op fles maken het bier geschikt als oplegbier, zodat de smaken zich blijven ontwikkelen.

Pours a black colour with a small lasting brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, rye, dark chocolate. Flavour is moderately malty sweetness. Alcohol is hidden well, you wouldn’t think this was 10%. Excellent brew.

Bottle at Winterbierfestival, Gouda: Very, very dark brown with full body due the rye malts with an pretty good taste of roasted malts and black chocolates. Meesterstuk means masterpiece, almost an masterpiece but pretty good this one is.

Bottle from local Mitra. Dark brown color. Licorice and some oily hops in the aroma. Grapefruit and roast. Rye bread, melon and oily hops in the sweetish flavor. Tarry. Loads and loads of aromas and flavor, but somehow they don’t come together. Sticky mouthfeel.

Sampled from bottle at THT October. Thanks to deanso! Vintage 2012. Sweet roasted chocolate malts, barley. Medium sweet and bitter. Medium body, soft carbonation. Very pleasant. Nice finish. --- Beer merged from original tick of Meesterstuk (2012) on 08 Jan 2018 at 15:41 - Score: 7

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with average to huge, foamy, fairly lasting and lacing, beige head. Slightly vinous, chocolately, dark malty aroma, notes of blueberry, blue grapes, a touch of liquorice and marmite. Taste is chocolately dark malty, slightly yeasty spicy, hints of caramel, a touch of burnt caramel, liquorice, some alcoholic whiffs, moderate bitterness; smooth and soft, minimally sticky palate.

Flaska från beernavigator. Mörkt, mörkt brun, högt bestående beige skum. Stor mörk fruktig doft. Torkad frukt, vanilj, fudge, brownies, rostad malt och rejält med alkoholvärme och lite madeiratoner. Stor, söt, kraftig men också kärv med tydlig beska. Lång fin eftersmak. Riktigt bra.

At a tasting, many thanks MrHangover, smallish creamy head, cloudy dark brown color, aroma of berries and dried fruits, with some light roasted notes, flavor of dark bread, biscuit, vanila and wood, quite dry. Interesting but not exactly an impy.
