Bottled@SBWF2014. And so as I was standing by AST Wines when meeting the man bolagshataren, I decided to have a go at this one, which has been around for a year or two on the festival, but which my sharing buddies have usually already rated. The beer pours a very dark brown, close to black fluid, which produced a nice mediumsized creamy brown head, which also leaves some lace. Aroma is was raisins, some plummy notes along with mild rye bread and toasted notes. Quite mellowly, but still strong at the same time. Flavour is liquorice, some alcohol, sweet raisins, mild yeastiness as well as some toffee and spices. A quite tasty and balanced brew, occasionally Jopen does get things right as well. And probably the aging had mellowed this one out a bit too.

330 ml bottle from De Bierkoning @ Amsterdam. Good beer to finish the month of March. Pours dark brown with a small beige head, leaving nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is fruity, molasses, sweet caramel candy and some refreshing hops. First sip is totally satisfying. It has a small bite of alcohol, molasses, caramelized brown sugar, dark dried plums, fruity roasted flavour and everything finding culmination in a dry, roast hop bitterness.

Black with small beige head. Roasted malts and meat, cherries, grapefruit, ryebread. Taste is quite bitter with fruity sweetness, bitter aftertatse. Medium mouth, doesn’t feel like 10% at all. Love the balance between heavy roasted malts and strong hops here.

A true masterpiece indeed. It?s a delicious imperial stout, with strong notes of coffee, dark chocolate and some rye. The fruity and bitter american hops provide for a great balance.
