Editor’s note: new and reworked edition, new label, new hop bill and new gourmet coffee from the Coffee Collective.
This is truly a beautiful brown ale boosted with a delightful aroma of citrus, spice and gourmet Keini, Kenya Beans from The Coffee Collective, Copenhagen – the result is amazing, lusty and incoherent – yes, it’s your wildest desires in a bottle. Close your eyes and let the drops do the talking. Enjoy y’all.

Closer in flavor to a coffee IPA than a coffee brown ale, with a massive citric-herbal hop backbone offset by tons of juicy, strong java. Starts with a dry, semisweet malt note with hints of toast and caramel, then quickly develops a heavy hop presence, big on grapefruit, pine, and black pepper. Hops dominate until the coffee kicks in, acidic and mildly vinous and strong, leading to a black coffee fade laced with fruity hop goodness. Nose gives off a lovely coffee aroma, and the pour is absolutely gorgeous, coming out a clear orange-brown with a giant off-white head and tons of lacing. Good palate as well, smooth and creamy yet carbonated enough to keep the coffee from growing overbearing. Great beer.

Growler shared at Floris’s leaving tasting. Dark brown with light tan head. Big roasted dark malts, bit old coffee, deep roast. Light sweet and quite bitter. Medium body and soft carbonation. Too bad the coffee notes are not as fresh as I hoped.

Foamy! Hoppy, nice bitterness, not too heavy. Coffee shines through nicely, complements well with the hops. Quite well made!

473ml can, gusher. Dark brown colour with a large beige head. Aroma: coffee, light roasted malt, citrus hops. Taste: lots of coffee, roasted malts, citrus and herbal hop notes, touch of chocolate and vanilla, bittersweet, finishing bitter. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Pretty good, just the hoppy notes don’t work so well with the coffee in taste as they do in the aroma.
