American IPA brewed exclusively with Simcoe hops
All hail the Simcoe hops, featured exclusively in ControversiAle for an earthy and pine laced aroma combined with zesty grapefruit and hop marmalade that goes down easy like a pale ale but with the depth and complexity of an American IPA with multiple hop additions. As for the name? Well, let’s just say this beer has a history.

Bottle. Mild grapefruit aroma, a little cheesy. Hazy amber colour. Small frothy white head. The flavour is malty with a decent bitterness. Has a little cardboard and stale bread notes. Tastes all right, but does not exactly have "tons of citrus hoppiness". Might be old, but who knows? The brewery might want to put a freshness date on their beers...

Bottle. Pours clear amber with airy white head. Clear aroma of hops and yeast, with a touch of citrus. Actually, it smells like a decent lager. Bitter, hoppy flavour, giving way tocitric notes and reverting to hoppy bitternes with a hint of dark chocolate. Bitter aftertaste. Quite pretentious but drinkable.

Bottle, 12oz. It’s a clear, dark golden to orange beer topped by a small, off-white head. It’s lightly malty on the nose, with a touch of apricot and orange peel. Pretty boring all the way this one. There’s some bitterness in the flavor, but not much fruityness. Some pale malts. Pretty dry on the palate, with a nice carbonation. Bitter, lightly fruity finish. Overall, boring. 131231

Bottle from Erzbierschof, Bern
Hazy orange-amber color with medium head. It still has quite nice hoppy aroma, with evident cereals, light toffee and bread. Dry mouthfeel, with strong toffee and cereals flavor; quite strong bitterness, nice hop resins, not much fruits. The body is a bit thinner than a typical IPA.
Good, not very fresh actually.
