Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up From Sainsbury’s. Pours clear copper with a creamy, off-white head. Moderately sweet, some toasted grains, a little caramel, English yeast, mild leafy bitterness. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Decent balance to finish, more leaves, toasted malts, mellow berry notes. Not bad.

(Bottle) Pours clear ruby brown with small off white head. Nice aroma of toffee, dates with notes of candy and veg. Medium body with slight oiliness and well carbonated. Rich flavour with a nice balance between dark toffee sweetness and hoppy bitterness. There’s some nice dried fruit notes. Very drinkable.

Bottle from Tesco. It pours ruby - red with a decent fluffy beige head. The aroma is rich sweetness, oily, loads of dark / dried fruits, plum, prune, date, glace cherry, fruit cake, fruit pie crust, earthy, toasty and cacao. The taste is dry, bitterness, some harshness/sharpness, dark fruits, plum, prune, date, raisin, glace cherry, fruit cake, earthy, wood, slightly burnt and a touch of alcohol with a drying, toothy finish. Medium+ body and average carbonation. Nice dark fruit vibes, but perhaps a bit rough around the edges. Probably exceeded expectations for me.

This was a choice find at the Gibsons LDB. Amber-brown colour. Not much head. Smells caramelly and sweet, with fun things like bubblegum and alcohol. Tastes about the same, with caramel, bubblegum and alcohol. Low bitterness. I remember ten years ago I was out walking around Bath. It was pretty hot and I was getting thirsty. Popped into the nearest pub and the best they could do was cask Hobgoblin. I was reminded that Hobgoblin isn't all that good. So I suppose I should have known this wouldn't inspire me, but that said the bubblegum is really disappointing. Not suitable for lagerboys.

(Bottle, 0.5 l - BB 30.09.2022, from Alko, 20211203) The beer poured brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, caramel, earth and biscuits. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were earth, biscuits, malts, caramel and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, malty and bitter. A nice but bit too sweet malty brew.

Bottle. Clear dark ruby/copper with a beautiful white head. Aroma of malts, red fruits, marzipan and herbal hops. Taste of malts, red fruits, toffee, biscuits, marmelade, caramel, apples and herbs. Moderate bitterness. Medium carbonation. A little bit of alcoholic warmth. Rather thin body. My description sounds great but unfortunately all the different parts don’t really mesh as well as they could. Still good though.
