Bottle. A clear, chestnut colored beer with a small, dense, beige head. The aroma is quite roasted and nutty, with some chocolate and coffee. It’s quite dry on the palate, with a tad much carbonation. Full to medium body. Nuts, caramel, roasted malts and coffee in the flavor. A decent bitterness too. Chocolate, caramel, nuts and coffee in the end. Quite nice this one. 150328

Pours dark reddish brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, brown sugar and floral. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a long sweet caramel and brown sugar finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

33cl bottle from beer52.com A deep chestnut pour with a billowing beige head; aroma of yeast, coffee beans and red fruit; soft fruity taste, with some malty caramel and chocolate; and a light bitterness. A pleasant siping beer.

bottle from Kiya. Tart and again seems a bit off in the nose, chocolate, cherry. Some spicy years. Dark brown with ornage tints. Flavor is chocolate, roast, some coffee. Quite porter-like. A bit metallic with a somewhat strange bitterness in the finish. Meh.

Kolor: czarny, dopiero pod światło od spodu szkła widać delikatne rubinowe refleksy. Piana to mega czapa, kolor beżowy, drobno i średnio pęcherzykowa, długotrwała, zamiast pić piwo oglądałem jak topnieje (istne szaleństwo).
W aromacie palone słody, delikatna kawa, lekko kwaskowa, trochę skórki z chleba.
Smak to już wyraźnie kawa, w tle skórka orzechowa, gorzka. Z każdym kolejnym łykiem wyraźniej też czuć skórkę z chleba i przyjemną goryczkę, która nie ma związku ze smakiem kawy. Nasycenie niskie, alkohol ukryty perfekcyjnie. Główne atrybuty tego piwa to przede wszystkim kawa, może nie jest to espresso, ale smak bardzo przyjemny i nie nachalna goryczka - wcześniej orzechowa, potem chmielowa.

Caña en el lúpulo el 02-01-2015. Color caoba oscuro con espuma beige oscuro poco persistente. Aromas y sabores de maltas tostadas, algo caramelizadas y dulces. Poco amargo final. Cuerpo medio de 6.6 vol fácil de beber y algo denso. Toda una belga.

’Diabolical’ ale with light beige, stable head and hazy dark burgundy colour. Aroma of raisins, caramel, apple, red wine, plums, banana; sweetish fruity onset, candi sugar, dryish, powdery mouthfeel, caramelly and somewhat chocolatey malt sweetness, spicy yeastiness, leafy and peppery hops in the finish. Very decent dubbel.

750 c&c from Star Grocery in Berkeley, CA. Pours dark brown with orange aspects and a smallish beige/tan head. Cooked brown bread? The aroma could be that. Med body, barely. There’s a hint of concord grape, then that burnt malt thing. It comes across grapily fruity and near pumpernickel malty. Pretty dry finish. Kudos for a new taste sensation.

330ml bottle: BBD Oct 2015. Poured at home into a Westvleteren chalice on 24th Sep 2014, sediment and all went into the chalice. Very dark brown to black body, the head a healthy tanned foam covering, the room to dark to tell if the beer was cloudy or clear, held up to the light it was clearly cloudy! Over roasted maltiness hits the nose and then the palate as you take a sip. Burnt notes arrive and drift away as chocolate and coffee flavours replace the initial toasty feel and smells. This is a malty brew with very little hop content noticeable. Fairly dry and bitter it is not for speed drinking, but for a leisurely, slow session of small sips to appreciate the finer things in life. A smoking jacket sort of beer, a coal fire in the winter brew. Very pleasant in deed.
