Announcing the coming of summer, Summer from Hornbeer is a bit moody – just like the traditional Danish summer. You may think you will be served a plain light beer but then you discover that Summer has a taste of elderflower, honey, citrus, hops and spices. Summer is brewed with elderflower extract, giving it some natural acidity, which helps to make it extra fresh. The beer style is mostly that of a "Belgian witbier”. Summer can be an exciting welcome drink, used with light dishes, shared together with your neighbour on the terrace, on a boat or just when you want something refreshing. Ideally served chilled between 4-6 degrees in a tall glass.

50 cl bottle poured in a Leffe chalice. Very hazy orange hue, off-white head goes away to never come back (we'll miss you...) All right, everyone around here is sayin' this's got some citrus aroma, but no way. Maybe some bigwig said it first and everyone followed suit; but, no way Jose: there's no citrus whatsoever. So, let's see... Coffee? Tick. Moss? Tick. Earth? Tick. Cardamom? Tick. Coriander seeds? Tick, yes, tick, and I know they can be citrusy sometimes, but more the leaves (cilantro) than the seeds, but OK. But... Citrus? Nay. Nah. No. Naught. Mouth is fizzy, watery, zesty. Not really bitter at all, but even though it lingers a while. Not so good, not that bad.

Thank you Erwin! 500 ml. bottle sampled @ “Wish you were Adam Chandler” tasting. BBF 21.07.2017. Hazy orange, little head. Nose is weird rotting & milky flowers, industrial, chemical, spoiled, really nasty. Taste is milky sweet chemical flowers, unpleasant industrial plant, chemcials, grass, rotting, spoiled milk. Chemical & milky body. Very unpleasant, spoiled, chemical notes. On paper this seemed good a witbier with elderflowers but this is quite awful, not sure as to what happened here.

Bottle. Pours cloudy amber with airy but stable off-white head. Clear aroma of hops, malt and fruit, with notes of yeast. Sweetish flavour of malt and yeast, with notes of hops and citric and fruity touches. Slightly perfumed. Estery and grainy aftertaste. Okay but nothing very special.

0.5l bottle. This is a blurry honey golden one with a good looking big off-white head with good retention. The nose has a nice light spicy wheat tone, Belgian yeast, some green banana and traces of white candied sugar. A blend between a wit and a Belgian in a way. Soft grassy hops also shining through here. Smells quite alright. It's almost lively on the carbonation level and the mouthfeel is light thin oily. A good amount of citrus in the taste. It's also a bit wheat-sweet and I get a good yeasty thing here as well. The citrus is kinda dominating with both juices and zest. Yeah, it has a general theme of lemony citrus all the way through. This is quite a nice one actually. 05.08.2013
