This spicy, rich and unique beer is bursting with chocolate and coffee malt flavours. We’re famous for our pale and gold coloured beers at Oakham Ales, but we brew some great black beers as well and Hawse Buckler showcases just what our brewers can do in that area. Hawse Buckler (first brewed in 2006) was an excellent Black IPA a long time before the Black IPA category was even invented! Our brewers have been perfecting the recipe ever since. Colour: Black Hops: Amarillo, Chinook, Simcoe (all USA) Malts: Maris Otter, Wheat Malt, Crystal Malt, Chocolate Malt, Roasted Barley Allergens: Contains Gluten

RBESG2008: 50 cL bottle. Pours dark brown to black with a creamy tan head. Citrusy fruity aroma with a mild roasted note beneath - promising aroma. Hoppy fruity initially and solid roasted malt following. Ends fresh hoppy and roasted malt. Nice one and a lovely "clean" mix.

Bottle. Black with a lasting light brown head. Citrus American hop aroma, with some licorice. Flavour is citrus hop dominated with some roast malt. An excellent porter in it’s own right, plus hops like an APA. Yummy!

Bottle @ thewolf-and-his-flock-of-sheep tasting session. Dark color, short off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt, some hop. Very bitter coffee taste, hint of grapefruit. Did not know this had such a high rating, but it absolutely deserves it!
