Untamed, unpredictable and full of unforgettable character: that's a Rustler for you. This IPA's solid malt base quietly saunters in with a slightly spicy aroma, hints of sweet pine, citrus and apricot tones with American hops for a mildly bitter finish. Rustler is the likable renegade you can't help rooting for.

12 oz can from a six pack bought at Winco. Aroma is floral candy sweet, bready malt, spicy. Pours hazy burnt orange with flecks of sediment and a medium beige lacy head with good retention. Highly bitter with a lot of malt backbone. Nothing wrong with the palate. At first I thought this was way too much malt for me. I usually don’t care for malty IPAs, but then it kind of started to grow on me. The high bitterness is kind of addicting. Not sure why the deScription up there says it has a mildly bitter finish.

12 oz can that screams pure Idaho. The plain, simple Western artwork reminds me of those Gunsmoke cigarettes I used to smoke as a teenager. Luckily, this tastes, looks and smells much better! Pours a hazy cantaloupe hue with a medium to large cream-colored head with good retention; leaves some cobwebby lace. Aroma is full of peachy, citrusy and piney hops with a little bit of a cotton candy-like sweetness lurking in the background. Taste is both bitter and sweet in all the right places; finishes with a lingering bitterness. Creamy mouthfeel, medium to full body. Goddamn near perfect IPA here. This really tastes fresh.

Draft @ Legends Pub, Boise. Golden orange pour with a finger of creamy off-white head. Great lacing. Served a bit too cold, but light floral and citrus notes make their way through. More citrus and pine in the taste, lightly malty. Some indication of the higher IBUs and ABV, but overall a pretty approachable ‘higher octane’ IPA.

Can from Brewforia. Pours lightly coppered gold with a white head. Aroma is rather evergreen with mild caramel backdrop. Med body. Flavor is very lush. The caramel is forward and a trifle roasty. The pine is clearly present. There’s other hop, but I can’t pick them out individually. The mouthfeel is fairly lush; the flavor is fairly strong, tho not very harsh; the finish is nicely fruity and bitter. Solid ale.

On tap at Payette. Decent IPA from my local brewery. Crisp and clear, nice sharp hoppiness, yet smooth ont he palate. The style is ubiquitous in the NW, but good ones don’t leave you puckered up.

On tap at the brewery. Hazy deep orange with persistent sandy head and lots of heavy sticky lacing. Big, mostly pine hope nose. Plenty bitter and a big malt back bone. Heavy palate and high IBU Nearly a double
