At first I was thinking this is going to be an excellent Imperial Stout as the appearance and Aroma were so good. Flavor was actually very good too but the Finish had this odd thing going on that was not so pleasant and it lingers and doesn’t make me want to have another

On tap at Katie O’Briens. Pours a pitch black color with a medium off-white head. A big chocolate and spicy nose. Light pepper, dark chocolate, smooth light roast and I certainly get the oak. Quite good.

Bomber. Aroma is orange candy circus peanuts, roast, chocolate milk, coffee, nutty, wood, vanilla. Pours black with a tan head that falls into a ring of big bubbly foam fairly quick. Taste is sweet, finishing dryly with a fair amount of bitterness. Flavors of vanilla, oak, licorice. Light chili pepper heat only comes out after repeated sips--very under the radar! Not bad and pretty interesting, but not something I would ever probably buy again.

On tap at Blackback Pub, Waterbury, VT.
This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a black color with a slim less than finger-ed white head that dissipated nicely. Lacing was slim to none.
The smell took in the dark and roasty notes initially, but then as it warms, there’s the light chili pepper coming in subtle and clean. It took even a bit longer before the saltiness showed up.
The taste replicated the smell for the most part and in the same pace; ie roasty and then chili pepper and then saltiness. But the saltiness was so light, it was mostly barely there. Quick dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a nice dry sessionable to sipping quality about it. Carbonation rides fairly low.
Overall, as a Double/Imperial Stout, it works. Almanac taking their creativity to the next level and \"spicing\" things up a bit, hmmm...yeah, I say sip this one, and you’ll get everything Almanac is putting in this. I’m pretty sure that’s what they were aiming for anyways.

22 oz. bottle, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out notes of roast, dry bitter cocoa and a touch of sea salt. Flavour is complex, with notes of roast, sea salt, and cocoa. Flavour is quite complex, with notes of roast, sea salt, licorice, and dry cocoa. Medium-full bodied, with a finish of roast. Solid.

Almanac tap takeover at PreFunk Nampa I thought this was quite nice. Deep brown almost black color Pretty big chocolate and light roast flavors. Mild heat from the chilis creeps up on you. Well balanced. Fairly tame for an imperial though. Even at the stated 10%

Bottle from Elizabeth Station, Bellingham, WA
Black color, beige compact head, reducing quickly. Mild aroma of dark chocolate. Lean body, just moderately sweet, less strong than expected; nice roasted malt and coffee flavor, light chili hotness, and a light vanilla touch that may come from the oak.
Nice but less than expected.

Bottle - Dark roasty notes and some dark chocolate. Jet brown with a light brown head. Sweet chocolaty notes, touch of heat and more sweet coco notes.

On tap at Artistic Table. It pours a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma is kind of potent with notes of spice, cocoa and plastic. The flavor is spicy and alcoholic. A little toasted with green bell pepper. Meh.

Bomber - dark brown pour, nearly black, with a sudsy, tan head - nose of light oak, vanilla, cocoa - somewhat light body and texture for the style, but the alcohol is well-masked - moderate chili heat, milk chocolate, vanilla, light bitterness, tobacco - finish has moderate heat - it’s okay, but I’d like more complexity and heft.
