Green waxed 22oz bomber, big thanks to Alex for sending me another awesome ass barleywine, pours with an amber brown body that supports a tan head of foam. The modest aroma offers up sweet malts, some molasses and then vanilla, bourbon and spicy oak. Oh wow, the taste hits with smooth malts molasses, a bit of toffee and then caramel. Very nice sweet smooth rich start. As it warms sweet dark fruity esters are noticed in the nose and flavor. To midway the bourbon, booze and light spicy oak note along with blunted aged pine hops and spicy wintertime cookies cut perfectly into the thick bodacious sweetness. I don’t know about you; but this works for me. Very nice sipper where the massive abv is well hidden.
