Canette 500ml.

2012 update: Golden and bright. Light aroma but the palate has a delicate spicy hop. Hints of malt. Decent, refreshing and relatively dry macro.

Original rating, 2011: Can from a random Eastern Euro grocer in Nicosia. Hazy light yellow. Smells a bit doughy. Low bitterness and vague minty, sugary hops but all told it’s a clean, bland pale lager. Nothing going for it, but nothing wrong with it.

Green bottle. Slight waft of skunk when cap came off. Pours gold with a slight white head. Apparently there wasn’t much skunk cause the nose is bready and grassy. Near med body. Flavor is bready, and there is some grassy/spicy hop. I’d say no skunk at all. Gotta be one of the better pale lagers of East Europe.

(bottle) Clear, pale golden colour with a blond and short foamy head. Slightly sweet and grainy malty aroma with a grassy hoppy touch. Sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a slightly harsh carbonation. Dry pale malt character with grainy spots; dry-ish bitter-sweet finish. Probably better than Heineken NL. 12.I.11

Bottle: Clear, pale golden to golden, smaller loose white head; light to moderate dryish pale-malty nose with a light grassy hoppy aroma; light to moderate bitter-sweet flavour, pretty light bodied; slightly lingering dryish grassy finish. Quite good, definitely better than the dutch Heineken products.......

A pale lager with a thick collapsing white head. Aroma of solvent and green apples. In mouth, a rather un of the mill euro lager, with crips malt, a bit of cloying solvent notes, boring. 500 mL can from LCBO.

Second brew from Romania at the LCBO. Can with a best before date written on its bottom: 07.05.2011. Pours a clean light gold colour with a white foamy head that dissipate quickly enough, leaving a bit of lace. The aromas are pretty mild with some grains and some sweetness that reminds me of apple juice. Crisp mouthfeel and medium-bodied. The grassy normal pils taste is found with some light malt. Again, nothing special here (and I think I prefer the Ursus Premium just a bit more).

Bottle. Straw coloured, collapsing white head. High bead. Grainy aroma with hay, earth, grass. Smells clean enough despite a green bottle and a long journey. Mild grainy malt sweetness with some bitterness. A little papery and metallic. Not good but not a disaster.

A híres "csíki bír" egyenesen Csíkszeredáról. Minden magyar sörbarátnak érdemes ezért a nedűért Székelyföldre elbarangolnia. Meg hát amúgy is. Különben színe arany, íze enyhén keserű, mely sokáig a kitölti a szájat. Illatában gyógyfüvek leledzenek. Jól el lehet merengeni mellette. Ja és literes kiszerelésben is kapható ám. Komolyan nem értem mi ez az underrate, örülnék, ha itthon is kapható lenne!!!
