This version of Jester King and Mikkeller’s collaborative imperial oatmeal stout, made with chipotle peppers and smoked malt, was aged for six months in Tennessee whiskey barrels, prior to the addition of a special blend of Vietnamese coffees, including a large portion of authentic Kopi Luwak coffee (a.k.a. “weasel coffee”).

Bottle. Pours with a black hued body with a tan head. Great lace and retention. Aromas are leathery, red fruit, plums, estery, coffee and mild smoke. Light barrel notes. Flavors are of nougat, coffee, dark fruit and a touch of acidity. Lots of nutty notes, roast, light smoke. Medium bodied for how big it is, fuller carbonation. Mild barrel.

From 0.75l bottle @ Borefts 2012. It's as good as jet black in the glass this one, but the head glimmers with it's absence. On the nose is amazingly lovely. Vanilla roasted coconut with rich buttery chocolate and deep dark Brazilianized amazonian coffee on wood with some brown muscavado sugar on the side. Rich and lovely aromatic. It has a small prickling carbonation level and a rich oily mouthfeel. The taste is also somewhat vanilla infused, lot's of fantastic cold coffee, deep roasted goodness, bitter dark chocolate and it ends with a throat-warming chili-like alcohol burning. Really fancypancy stuff that I enjoyed to the maximum. 28.09.2012

Bottle 750ml. @ 4th Borefts Beer Festival 2012, Brouwerij de Molen, Bodegraven, Netherlands.Clear dark black brown colour with virtually none head. Aroma is light heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, beery, malty, barrel - earthy notes. Flavour is heavy sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a long duration, dark malt, dark chocolate, artificial sweet and artificial berries ? maybe it is the chipotle pepper. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20120928]

Schokoladiger Beginn mitröstig-hefigen Noten. Dabei sind Alkoholnoten (nicht negativ) schmeckbar. Starke Karbonisierung, zum Ende nussig, etwas brennend. 11/11/10/11//11

Bottle @ Armin’s bachelor party. Thanks Caleb! Pours a dark brown appearance with a tan/cream colored head. Kind of murky aroma with notes of chocolate, coffee, whiskey, vanilla, and wood. The flavor is even more so with a few nice notes going on (coffee, chocolate) but the whiskey kind of made it boozy and the peppers just made the thing strange. Fun to try nonetheless.

Dark brown black colour, tan head. Aroma of bourbon, roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, bell pepper, vanilla and soy sauce. Light sweet flavour, coffee bitter, alcohol and coconut. Light wood, light red berries. Quite light body, surprisingly. Finish coffee, malts, bourbon and milk chocolate. Only a hint of chili.

750 ml bottle received in trade. Thank you Jeffrey! Pours black with a fizzy and frothy dark mocha head that quickly dissipates without leaving much trace on the glass. Smell is sweet, malty and spicy hot with roasted malts, quality dark chocolate, dark roast coffee, vanilla fudge, roasted coconut, pumpernickel, wood, alcohol, burnt caramel, green chili, whisky and hints of peat and lemon zest. Taste is sweet with roasted malts, sweet dark bread, vanilla fudge, dark roast coffee, green chili, dark chocolate, roasted coconut, toffee, burnt caramel, sweet liquorice candy, lemon zest, wood, oatmeal cookies and smoked chili. Mouthfeel is smooth, round, tiny boozy and near full bodied. Finish is sweet, bitter and malty with roasted malts, vanilla fudge, dark roast coffee, alcohol and smoked chili.
