What a fun blonde beer this is. The nose is deliciously malty. The overall flavour is fruity, with hints of sweetness and a warm alcohol glow, which tapers off into a slightly bitter finish. We launched this classic beer in 1983, making it our oldest high-fermentation beer, which is re-fermented in the bottle.

a little surprised to see this rated so low, i was expecting it rated in the mid 80’s, but there ya go. light amber color and aroma is of typical belgian strong ale fruity and pepper notes. tastes is the same. palate is a little strong, not smooth like most, a little bite. very enjoyable, not too sweet and a little spicy.

Sample from bottle, Glunz Beer Expo, April 2010. Finally close to entering all my notes! Pours a nice yellowish ale color, with some good foam on the top. Basic ale smell. Not much fruitiness, just Belgian style ale that comes out nicely from a cold bottle, would probably warm pretty well, too. Good malts (I’m guessing Belgian pilsener malt) and a little bit of hop balance behind it.

Pours with huge head, off yellow colour with lots of carbonation. Aroma is cardboard, barnyard funk, and wheat beer detergent. Flavour is a good mix of blanche and blonde flavours - lots of hops, too much alcohol however. Soggy palate. But it’s a decent beer, unique in its blonde-blanche flavour mix.

Clear orange with a white head. High bead. Smells of marmalade, leaf detritus and cloves. Taste has some citrus sweetness, dull apples, plastic, wood. No real depth. Aroma suggested a spicy finish but it wasn’t really there - just a woody dryness. An inharmonious and unconvincing ersatz Duvel.

330ml bottle from Pauls Liquor Store. Nose of yeast, nutmeg, light caramel, and a clove note. Lightly hazy yellow gold with a big cream colored head. Flavor is lightly sweet, yeasty, a hint of spiucy, bitter, and tart.

Pour is a hazy orange with a white head. Aroma is very grainy for a Belgain with lots of sweetness and some yeast. Flavor is wierd with some dark fruit then a intense sweetness followed by a soapyness. I did not care much for this one.
