On tap at Spinnaker Bay, pours a hazy orange / bronze with a small off-white head. Aroma is intense, full of cloyingly sweet sugar and messy yeast. Flavour is nuts, with cloyingly sweet brown sugar, yeast, and acetone. What a huge mess of a beer - just about everything wrong with this.

Draft - Ginger, caramel and orange. Cleanish gold with a decent white head. Burnt sugars and a odd spicy sweetness. Odd, but decent.

Tap at the brewery, with Eugene - excellent british-style barleywine - nose and flavor of raisin, fig, treacle/bread pudding, dough - some balancing bitterness, earthy basement character - cool beer.

Snifter at brewery. This the way this style should be made. Not astringent, no cherry, just thick but not sickly or sticky. Toffee, sweet prune, a bit of hop bitterness. Long pie crust sweet aftertaste, I’ll be returning for this.
