This was poured into a tulip thinking this was a regular Belgian ale, sorry, next time I have this, I’ll make sure its in a chalice/trappist glass.
The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a finger’s worth of a glaze of a film of an off white head. Nice looking concave glaze along the sides.
The smell has sweet plums, raisins, and cherries melding into a delicate roasty cocoa powder underneath.
The taste was moderately sweet through the fruity features and bringing about the cocoa powder to run into a delicate bready flavor underneath. Lingering bready aftertaste slides into a sticky finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a nice sipping quality about it. Carbonation runs nice and low. It’s somewhat dry on my tongue.
Overall, though I didn’t pour it into its correct glassware, I’d still say this was a nicely done quad. Somehow I still got everything that I believe the brewer had intended. I’d have again.

Bottle. Strong malty aroma, some roast tastes. Surprisingly crispy in the beginning, almost sour. Raisin, grapes and alcohol, they all can’t hide. Something doesn’t quite add up to make this an excellent beer though.

bottle from palma.pitch dark, brown head. aroma is very strong, very complex and very heavy. lots of roasted malts as well as dried dark fruits. also sour roasted malts, salty lcorice.Flavor is very heavy, roasted malty, dark dried fruits, licorice, Toffee, burnt carael, booze. Very interesting Quad, super complex flavor profile, a little bit too much burnt caramel and booze, but a potent and flavorfull quad allright.

Austria huh? Close enough to Belgium. Looks like a brownie in a glass with a tan head. Smells really good of raspberries, caramel malts and a touch of booze. Tastes really rich, of lots of caramel malts, a heady amount of booze, raspberries and cherries. The aftertaste is a smooth roll out of those sweet malts, and lingering booze. Despite its inability to hide booze, at all, this is a really damn good quad. Of course I waited until the LCB-dOh doesn’t have anymore to finally try this one. Le Sigh.

Marrón oscura. Dos dedos de espuma oscura, que dura muy poco. Aroma muy belga, malteado, licórico, notas de caramelo, potente. Gran cuerpo, escasa carbonización y trago sabroso, muy malteado, igualmente licórico. Caramelo, fruto seco, bizcocho, miel, ciruela... compleja. Tono dulce, notas ligeramente ácidas y calor en el postgusto recordando el elevado alcohol, que no es tan presente en el trago. Buena quad.
