Dark brown, a few bubbles. The aroma is a bit boozy, some of that cognac. Relatively flat, with a smooth and sweet fruity character. Gentle, refined. 7 4 8 4 16 = 3.9 2018 rate: Dark brown, no head. Aged all right, light soy sauce, mellow, touch of chocolate, with a hint of coffee. Ok this is nice...seems to have mellowed out from prior rates. 7 3 8 4 16 = 3.8

Bottle, by way of a trade with Scopey, ages ago. Cheers Paul. Shared at Cloudwater. Almost black. Film and a few bubbles of tan head. Nose has the booze soaked chips by the bucket. Dark roast malts. Some soy. Some gravy granules. Taste is sweet and vinous. Trace of roast bitterness. Bit of a thin mouthfeel. Some boozy harshness. Sticky finish. Ok. Not getting the top 50 impy thing, to be honest.

I consumed a whole 75cl bottle of this at a halloween party in the Netherlands a few years back. The pour was black with a creamy tan head. Aromas of plums and dark cherries with some oak and vanilla. Super complex and extraordinarily tasty.

Bottle #1476, many thanks anstei & Koelschtrinker! Black color with beige head. Aroma is intense chocolate, coconut, a touch ethereal, maybe from the cognac. Taste is chocolate, toasted coconut, some chili heat in the back (but where does it come from? it's not boozy), not oxidized at all. Creamy mouthfeel with low carbonation. A masterpiece!

Bottle #1476, courtesy of Koelschtrinker, many thanks! Pours darkest brown with a little head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, cognac, slightly boozy, soft green pepper. Body is heavy, strong and sweet, feels very fresh. Strong coffee flavours again. Sweet palate. Oh boy, this is an almost perfect beer. Super balanced, great flavours, just a very nice and complex experience.

Shared by me at Maakun back from US tasting. 75cl Bottle no. 223, obtained from cellar sale at Plan B Rotterdam (Vintage 2010, first batch). Black, almost no head. Sweet deep roasted chocolate malts, cognac and wood, prunes, licorice, black tea, molasses, vanilla, ash. Big sweet, light bitter. Full body, velvet smooth texture, very soft carbonation. In the final pours the texture became thicker and gel-like. Big chocolate finish, very nice. Might have had more of a punch when fresh but the smoothened out palate from aging is also very nice to experience.

Bottle 75 cl thanks to sjogro, massive thanks even! Black with small light brown head. Lots of sweet red berries, chocolate, raisins, boozy cognac, marzipan, sweet coffee, quite earthy, some vanilla wood, cobwebs, toffee, dried dead leaves. Over medium sweet, light bitter and very light sour. Over medium bodied with light feel and low carbonation. Maybe a bit past its prime, but still a really good beer. Great experience to have tried this.
