Barley wines are traditionally hefty brews, but ours is downright excessive. The huge maltiness of this beer is only tamed by an equally prodigious addition of hops, creating a rich, slightly sweet, caramel-hued ale infused with assertive bitterness and bright hop notes, all culminating in a pleasing dryness. While it will evolve into an even more glorious brew with age, this beer's delicious onslaught of flavors will seriously challenge your ability to wait any longer to drink it.

650ml Bottle - Dark amber/light copper in colour. Pine, toffee, raisins and sultanas in the aroma. Leather, peach, pine, dried apricot, sultanas, caramel and raisins all feature in the rich and warming taste. This vintage is from 2012 yet is still fairly fruity and hoppy for a beer of this age.

Punertavanruskea, kuparinen olut rusehtavalla, pitkään säilyvällä puolen sentin vaahtokerroksella, joka jättää hieman pitsiä jälkeensä. Tuoksussa toisaalta vahvaa makeaa karamellisuutta ja toisaalta vahvaa humalan tuoksua sisältäen havuisuutta ja hedelmää. Mielenkiintoinen ja houkutteleva tuoksu. Maku jatkaa samoilla linjoilla ollen alkuvaiheessa vahvasti karamellisen makean maltainen. Toimii.

On tap at Craft Beer Base, Osaka. Pours nice deeper mahogany, smooth carbonation and long lasting head. Aroma is as sweet as freshly cooked strawberry jam. Caramelized sugar and berry sweetness. Taste is also full of caramel flavours, strong malty backbone, tasting as I expect a good barley wine to taste. Yet, it has some hoppy feel to it at the end, Stone is being Stone and has hopped this massively. Long bitter linger is going to remind me this lunch-time half-pint probably for quite a long.

Sampled at CBC 2016 - second day. Deep caramel pour with a thin beige head. Tons of hops in this barley wine, making it quite delicious. Notes of caramel, grapefruit, pine resin.

Bottle/Fest. A- Pine, fish pond. A- Copper color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Seaweed, pine, spruce. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, bitter finish. O- Pretty poor actually. A lot of bitterness but not aggressive and a weird stale water and seaweed aspect. Definitely a Stone beer.
