Winter Ale
The perfect beer for those cold months; this rich, medium bodied beer elicits nuances of chocolate, dates, and figs. Balanced bitterness and playful hop aroma fit like a mitten.

Can at 8% from Tavour. Pours very dark clear brown with a modest beige/tan head. Aroma is rather toffee. Med body or so. Flavor is toffee with light spice and a touch of chocolate. There are hot bit/prickles. Drier than expected. Moderately bitter. Flavor is very nice.

12 ounce can from Tavour. My 1,225 different brewery. Nearly opaque dark brown color. Frothy tan head. Toasted malt aroma hints at chocolate. Flavor is toasted malt, chocolate and mild coffee. Some nuttiness and spice. Nice flavor. Smooth and drinkable.

12 oz can poured, just as winter is settling in the rear view mirror. I can enjoy a solid winter ale all year round. Pours a red tinted cola brown with a tan foam head. Malt explosion aroma. Flavor is sweet, rich malt, with a toasty caramel finish. Good carb. Though a little too sweet, good beer all around.

Rich deep brown coloured body with a thick, three centimetre tall light brown head. Aroma of nuts, earth, caramel, malt, toffee and a good amount of candy sugars. Medium-bodied; Assertive sweet flavours with some candy sugar, caramel, toffee, rich nuts and toasted malts throughout - strong. Aftertaste shows some mellow earthiness, mushrooms, toffee, caramel and a lot of nuttiness with only a tiny bit of alcohol coming through. Overall, a good beer with less of a structure and more of a smattering of flavours that relatively align to a style that in my mind tastes more of an Old Ale or a Herb/Spice, but against an English Strong, I think it makes decent sense. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Pear Delicatessen in Seattle, Washington [State] on 18-Februrary-2016 for US$2,25 sampled at home in [the real] Washington on 26-April-2016.

11 oz can. Pours a dark brown with garnet tone and moderate head. Aromas of spicy bread dough and plasticky resinous hops. Flavors of raisin bread crusts, dried milk chocolate and light dried Christmas spice. Dry with creamy mouthfeel. Nice

Draft - Sweet dark sugars and raisin. Deep mahogany with a decent beige head. Gingerbread, molasses, dark sugar, raisin and a dark malty finish. A pretty decent winter warmer.

On tap at Kulshan Brewing, pours a dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma of caramel malts, winter spices and candied sugar. Flavour of winter spices, caramel malts, citrus hops and vanilla. Quite full-flavoured with a good balance. Decent stuff.

Draught at the taproom
Dark brown color, with small creamy head. The aroma of dark malts is a bit dusty. Good flavor of dark malts, caramel, some mild roastiness, a hint of spices, some late chocolate; it has moderate sweetness, and correct bitterness.
Good.
