Nothing gets you in the holiday spirit quite like this FIGJAM QUADRUPLE with it’s warming alcohol, figgy undertones, dark dried fruit flavors of raison dates, hints of fresh baked bread, and a beautiful dry finish that leaves you wanting more.

Beer #4 (of 19) of my 9000th Beer Celebration [9 beers on both sides of #9000th itself] Deep, super dark brown coloured body with a slight hazy glow, but almost completely black look, even when held to the light at an angle, all with a very fast-dying two to three centimetre tall off-white head that goes away after a few seconds. Aroma of alcohol, figs, caramelised sugars, plums, apples, molasses and a lot of sweetness, but more from the malts and alcohol here in the nose - quite strong. Full-bodied; Rich figgy and plum, pitted fruit sweetness and fruit flavours dominate with a lot of rich malts and caramelised sugars including molasses and toffee, but the malts, strong bready and slightly doughy flavours make this pungent, rich and full of flavour, especially sweetness and alcohol near the end. Aftertaste is very figgy with a lot of plum, apricot and caramelised sugars with a ton of rich malts and a good deal of pungent grainy notes and some bread at the tail end with a lot of rich flavours through, especially the malty, sweet and alcohol ones. Overall, a surprisingly nice beer that is rich, full of character and showing the figs nicely, but the sweetness and pungency from fruits better than most with a lot of alcohol and richness from the malts in a great way. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle, purchased from Merchant's in Dearborn, Michigan on 10-December-2016 for US$2,99 sampled at my house here in Washington for Beer #4 (of 19) of my 9000th beer celebration [9 beers on both sides of #9000th itself] on 09-September-2021.

On draught at South Park Tavern in Dayton. The beer is a dark brownish-amber color with a medium thick off-white head that recedes gradually to a film. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruit, yeast and malt. Full-bodied with flavors of dark fruit, earthy yeast and malt. The finish is fruity with a fig and malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

# 5000. Bot. From the start its a volatile strong flat american ale that comes across like a fresh domestic barleywine. Figs? Not sure. Just strong warming big beer in yer face attitude. Go figger, heheheh! If you like big american barley wine, this is for you. Otherwise, not sure if it rises to the civility of real old country quads. Dude, if you like bold fresh americanized barleywine, gofer it.

Shared bottle. Red-brown, slight head. ABV has some kick but doesn’t burn. Fig and mysterious dark fruits, brown sugar,

12 ounce bottle into chalice; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours slightly hazy dark ruby red color with a 1 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Slight spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big raisin, prune, fig, date, caramel, toffee, toast, molasses, brown bread, light pepper, light herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Very nice complexity and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, figs, and dark/bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big raisin, prune, fig, date, caramel, toffee, toast, molasses, brown bread, light pepper, light herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light yeast spice/herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, prune, fig, date, caramel, toffee, toast, molasses, brown bread, light pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice robustness and complexity of dark/bready malt, figs, and fruity/earthy yeast flavors; with a great malt/yeast/fig flavor balance and no cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a smooth and fairly slick/creamy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent fruited quadrupel style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, figs, and dark/bready malt sweetness; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle - Lots of dark sugars and dark fruit. Deep dark brown with a decent beige head. Lots of dark fruit, dark sugar and a bit of booze in the finish. Nice quad with lots of sweetness and a throat warming booze. I think this would do well with a little age to mellow and round out the edges.

12 oz bottle. Pours deep brown with a small off-white head. Potent juicy ripe dark fruit aroma with some more earthy aromas. Spicy dark fruit flavor, raisiny, green grape, with molasses lasting into the finish. Right near the line approaching too sweet, but nicely on the good side of that line. I quite enjoy it.

Draft at Crunchy’s, East Lansing. Murky orange-brown body, thin ring/discontinuous off-white head. Jam-like nose of strawberry and brown sugar. Boozy, sharp body with fig, brown sugar, strawberry, and toast. Fruity, bitter, and tart, most memorable for the sharp alcohol bite. Not especially Quad-like but better than I expected.
