On tap. Pours a dark mahogany with moderate foamy head. Aromas of sugar and sweet malts. Flavors of vanilla, roasted malts, bread, and light nuts. Creamy and sweet. Nice.

On tap at St. Augustine's, pours an opaque dark caramel colour with a small beige head. Aroma is full of caramel and toasted nuts - very true to style. Flavour is bold, with loads of caramel, toasted nuts and some bready malts. Despite being so malt heavy, it's not all that sweet, certainly not cloying. Very soft on the palate, with low carbonation. This is extremely well-brewed - everything I could hope for in a scotch ale. Excellent.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver, 14oz
Dark brown color. Perfumy caramel nose, fruity esters; nice but too mild. Lean body, with light residual sweetness; caramel flavor, light nutty touch, correct bitterness ; don’t look for smoke here.
Very clean, pleasant, but also unemotional.
