The original Cisk Lager Beer is a golden-coloured, bottom-fermented lager with a distinctive and well-balanced character. Its rich hop aroma and pleasant bitterness has made it the natural choice and thirst quencher for beer drinkers who want to savour the original brew which has remained faithful to its recipe of 1929.
Recipient of a number of international awards since its launch in 1929, Cisk Lager Beer is popular any time of the year and consumed across the Maltese Islands, holding a strong presence at Malta’s traditional social band clubs, known as ”kazini”. On a hot summer day, it is best enjoyed chilled by the sea with friends. Just add a barbecue banquet or a selection of fresh shellfish and Cisk will be the perfect companion.

Can 33 cl. Courtesy of Pinball. Pours a slightly hazy pale yellow with some floating impurities and a white head. Sweet aroma of brewing cereal. Medium body, a little malt and a surprisingly decent hoppiness. 161209

On tap in Malta. Clear golden color. Some fruits and bread in the aroma. Not much of a taste, typical insipid Eurolager.

33 cl can. Best Before July ’09. End-of-code 6-pack sold at Sam’s for $2.50. If it’s canned, I can take that chance. Sweet smell as I pour. A little citrus nose, not a lot of hops, but somehow I’m reminded of many Bitburger cans I once went through. Looks are okay, just a basic pale lager color. Taste is somehow strange, and may be partly due to age, I dunno. Certainly a light malt presence. Don’t think there’s much adjunct, though the label only admits to "all-natural ingredients." Cardboard, perhaps. A decent lawnmower beer indeed, but will want to try a fresher one to see where all these off notes come from.

can, borught to me by friends. Clear golden yellow, mid-sized white head. Aroma of green hops and hemp. Light-bodied, shy malty flavours with hempy hop flavours. Herbal-resiny-hempy hop finish. Has the body of an alcohol free beer but the resiny-hempy hops make it unusual and interesting.

Had a bottle of this while I was in Malta. Fizzy yellow stuff at it’s worst. Pale yellow, frothy head. Grassy aroma, bitter grassy flavor. What did you expect?

Bottle. Pours a light gold with a big and fluffy head. Aromas of skunky hops are evident from a couple of feet away. Closer inspection reveals a little bit of lemon and grass, but man.... mostly skunky hops. Flavor is a decent enough mix of the above mentioned ingredients with a little bit of a honey-like sweetness. Nothing offensive... nothing outstanding.

Big white coarseish shiny head. Pale yellow body with vigourous carbonation. Mealy straw aroma with faint grassy notes. Dry papery straw and caramel taste with mealy grainy notes. Thinnish body. Chalky fizzy mouthfeel. Dry papery straw aftertaste with resiny notes. Very like the low-carb, but without the extra hops. Decent, but marred by the paper. (0.5l can, Duke’s, Victoria, Gozo.)

Bottle (thanks mom!). Pale golden color with a medium white head. Aroma of slightly grainy malt, hay and grass notes. Sweetish and slightly bready flavor at first and finishes with hoppy bitterness. Rather light-bodied. Not too bad.
