(Bottle) Black colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, roasted, vinous nose with notes of coffee, chocolate, red fruit, raspberries, oak wood and red wine. Malty, roasted, fruity taste with black coffee, dark chocolate, liquorice, raspberries, red wine, oak wood and a finish with a mild roasty bitterness and a light winey acidity. Full body, with a touch of sweetness. Tasty and well made with a good red wine character (however not better than the original H&V). Very nice.

Tap @ BBF 2010. Almost black and opague. Candied fruit, grapes, maple syrup in the aroma. Roasted but vinous flavor with ash and candied fruit, licorice, grapes. Almost perfect balance. Another jewel in the Molen crown.

Bottle from 2014 @ home, Black color. Dense mocha colored head with little retention. Aroma's: chocolate, vinous, umami, light funky, wood. Retronasal it's soft sour, umami, (bretty-)funky, vinous, manure. The funkiness and manure disappear after a short while, which is an improvement. Flavor is light moderate sour, light sweet. Medium bodied. Long finish with some dark chocolate and light roasty bitterness.

Bottled 06-11-2014. Sharp acidity at first, but after warming and some air opens up nicely. Fruity, tart red wine, woody barrels, bitter and dry stout. Lighter and fruitier than the base, seems unbalanced at first but massive improvement after warming.

Been in my cellar for a big while now. Time to finally crack this gem ! Pours all black, small grey head ( more like a few bubbles, not really a head ) Smell is very strong and intense tannines. Taste is full, very ashy. Some red fruits, mouthfeel is thick, but not as sticky as you’d think of a H&V. Really refined, not over it’s top at all yet. some tanines, some oak. Dark malts, and a typical H&V aftertaste. Some sharp apects from the bordeaux. Perhaps not as ’round’ as I had hoped, but it sure is nice, and that factor might be due to the age. Quite good !

Bottle shared. 2014 vintage. Almost black with small bubbly beige head. Massive red wine, wood, marzipan, more tannins and red wine, soft roasted notes, hint of dark chocolate, hay. Under medium sweet and medium bitter, very light sour. Full bodied with dry woody feel, very long lasting puckering tanninic feel. The barrel is completely overpowering here.
