Nicklebrook Equilibrium ESB 5.5% Waiting for a triumphal parade for an Olympian to start I decided to give this a try. Milky orange brown color, thick beige head. Biscuit and toffee aroma. The taste is bitter, biscuit, a little acrid with some orange hop notes. Passable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can from the LCBO. Deep cloudy copper with a small off white head that recedes to a sheet. Nose is caramel, grain, light honey and some leafy hops. Light+ toffee sweetness offset by an equal hoppy bitterness. Medium creamy mouth with soft carbonation and a lingering bitter finish. Of the two I hadn’t tried in the 4 can sampler, this was the surprise. Quite nice.

Can at the Arrow & the Loon. Pours a clean amber colour with a golden hue. Creamy warm cap with good retention and lacing. Becomes hazy by the last pour. The taste starts off mildly hoppy, then goes through caramel to finish with grain. Then, the grass comes back. Aromas of caramel, citrus and grass reminding me of an IIPA. The mouthfeel is crisp, mildly dry. A nice balanced brew with good grain, hops and caramel. A slightly hoppier ESB.

A really fine esb. Nickel brook has been doing a lot if good stuff lately. Pours orange with great creamy head and lacing. Happy citrus aroma with sharp barley. Texture a little creamy. Carbonation on the low side. Fines lightly bitter. Tap at brothers bistro.
