Le Merle is a rustic ale, pale in color, inspired by the rich brewing traditions of the Flanders region. Abundant hops and a Belgian yeast strain contribute exotic aromas of tropical fruit.
For all she has contributed since the brewery’s founding, North Coast Brewing is pleased to honor our Merle, co-founder Mark Ruedrich’s wife, with Le Merle (the Blackbird), a subtle sophisticated Belgian-style Saison beer.

On tap at the “Handle Bar” Boise. Hazy deep golden with a huge off white head. Pretty mild and faint Frech farmhouse yeast character. Dry light pale malts and just a touch of spicy bitteringbhops at the end.

Bottle. Color: Orange amber, frothy off-white head. Aroma: Yeast, malty. Taste: Medium sweet malty, notes of yeast, herbal, bread, toast. Moderate bitter. Lightly sticky mouthfeel. Medium body, under average carbonation. Well balanced, but not that special.

Pours gold from the bottle. A foamy head turns to a thin creamy layer and lingers. Aroma is yeasty, lightly fruity, with a bit of garden weed and bubblegum. Taste is fruity sweet with a heavy malty palate, a light tartness lingers at the end. Okay.

Közepes, nem túl tartós hab, félbarnába hajló narancssárga szín. Mézes, fűszeres illat. Gabonás, kekszes, fűszeres, kissé mézes ízek. Krémes, közepesen testes, erősen szénsavas, gyengén keserű. Nagyon finom, intenzív ízvilágú sör.
