On tap at CBC 2016 - day 2. Pitch black with a thin tan head. Thick and rich flavor, with notes of caramel, cocoa, chocolate and vanilla. Very well balanced, though leaning a bit towards the sweet side. Definitely a world class stout.

On tap At Mikkeller Bar. Pours black with short tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate, creamy coffee, vanilla, and sugary roasted malts. Flavors of sweetened dark chocolate, sugary coffee, and sweet molasses. Sweet and sticky. A bit messy but still very nice.

Bottle at a tasting in Portland-Oregon, many thanks to douglas88 for hosting and offering. 2010 vintage. Dark brown/black pour with ruby highlights, no head at all. Nose: top leather blast, post brewing malt mash, malt leftovers, a bit smoky. Mouth: boiled milk with cocoa powder, in perceivable ABV, little chili chocolate silky finish. Top beer! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2014 blue wax bottle shared at Mechazilla event. Deep, oily evil black pour with a small tan head that lingers. Sour plum and prune, blackstrap molasses, soy sauce with lots of treacle notes and a bit of marshmallow. Sticky and syrupy on the palate with more of a sorghum or molasses feel. Sweet and with lots of umami notes. The cacao is there but it feels more wine-like...almost like single origin cacao with that berry nuance. Finish has more soy sauce and winey berry notes under the chocolate. Not bad, but not really my kind of impy. Really happy for the chance to try this monster though. --- Beer merged from original tick of Dark Lord on 04 May 2016 at 22:48 - Score: 8

Branding is better than the beer. Old tick.

Poured from bottle thanks Willrunforbeer red wax 2012. Dark chocolate pour with a thin lacey tan head. Aromas of coffee caramel vanilla and chocolate. Taste is sweet and smooth but somewhat flat with a hint of oxidation. Still a great beer but needed to be opened last year.
