From the Greek word phaidros, meaning “bright”, Phaedra is bottled luster. Aromas of shimmering citrus and mellowing melon succeeded by lofty measures of Belma and Citra yet grounded by wheat and rye.

Hazy orange, huge, frothy, sticky, white head. Tropical fruit, lots of yeast, subtle spice, and citrus zest. Sticky, highly hopped, slightly oily mouth feel, with a solid carb. The finish has a medium bitterness, soft spice and some lightly soapy, zesty, fruity esters in the end. Quite nice.

650ml bottle. Pours a hazy orange-amber with a medium, creamy, long lasting, off-white head that leaves curtains of lace. Aroma of wheat malt, rye, Belgian yeast, caramel, mango, orange, cantaloupe and floral hops. Sweet flavour of grainy wheat malt, caramel, rye, mango, cantaloupe, orange, tangerine, Belgian yeast, peach and black pepper in a dry, floral hop finish. Medium to full body with a creamy, smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. A very nice Belgian IPA with subtle notes of rye.

Bottle: Poured a deep amber color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma consists of dry hoppy notes with some citrus undertones and some light peppery notes. Taste is also dominated by a mxi of peppery notes form the rye malt with some dry hoppy notes with some citrus undertones and some light fruity ester form the Belgian yeast. Body is about average with good carbonation. Solid rye IPA with plenty of complexity while retaining some very good drinkability.

Draught @ Alibi Room, Vancouver, BC

Pours clear orange with a smooth head. Aroma of rye, grassy hops, wheaty yeastiness and spices. Taste is hoppy, malty and wheaty with loads of rye, earthy notes and yeast. Malty and hoppy finish with some rye bread notes and wheaty yeastiness. Quite a strange combination but works surprisingly well.
