12 oz can from Total Wine, San Antonio, TX. Pours a crystal clear amber color with a large khaki head and very good retention. Looks like an Oktoberfest. Light lacing. Caramel malt aroma. Caramel malt flavor to match the aroma. Tastes like an Oktoberfest too. Lightly crisp mouthfeel. Very clean and smooth. Easily repeatable. Not bitter. The 40 IBU is undetectable. Really good beer.

Copper color. Roasted malt and caramel sweetness balanced by a slightly crisp and floral hops bitterness. Some hop aftertaste.

Thanks Lianna,
I poured this into a pint glass.
The appearance was a hazy burnt orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. There was some light lacing sticking and then sliding down into the beer.
The smell had a grassy sort of bittered caramel edge to a light nutty bitter hoppy aspect.
The taste was somewhat sweet but had a decent bitter edge of the malts.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was somewhat sharp but still good for the style and for me. Lingering bitter grassy and grainy finish.
Overall, decent ESB, could probably do this again.

Location: Draft at Yia Yia Mary's, 1/15/14
Aroma: The nose is caramel and bready malts with some fruity notes and a little earth
Appearance: This one pours a copper-orange color with a small foam of head
Flavor: Balanced, similar to the nose component-wise light-mid sweet and light bitter
Palate: The body is light-medium, drinkable and clean enough, with average-plus carbonation
Overall Impression: This is a drinkable enough ESB. I can see why this works well at non-craftcentric restaurants like this one, as it is a good entry micro, and I mean that as a compliment.

Sample at Hay Merchant. The beer is a clear amber color with a medium thin creamy off-white head that recedes quickly. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malt and fruit. Light to medium body with flavors of roast malt, caramel and earthy hops. The finish is sweet with a caramel malt aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Tap at the Flying Saucer, Houston, 21/05/13. Lightly hazed copper golden with a thin off white head that retains well. Nose is on the thin side, malt, grass, caramel, paper. Taste comprises toffee, dark malt, sugars, light caramel. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, touch of bitterness in the finish. Mediocre ESB no depth of flavour - a style really best suited to cask.
