Our legendary batch #1000! A blonde Flemish Sour Ale, brewed with our wild house yeast strain 'Morpheus'. The beer was boiled for over 6 hours and later aged for 6 months on 225l St-Emilion barrels made from American Oak. As finishing touch we let a part of the beer macerate on Apricots for 2 months.

Many thanks to Kappldav123 for sharing. Fruity and malty with a nice woody back. Deep with hints of funk and nice woody fruit. Fantastic balanced with a nice mild fruity aftertaste. nice.

Small yellowish head over copperish ruby beer. Musky nose, hints at incense, fruit, dried fruit, ever so slightly smoked, winebarrels. Vinous, apricot, lactic acid, hint @ acetic. Complex flavourprofile; very faint, not unpleasant metallic hint. Acidburn and -thinning, yet velvety feel. Medium to good carbonation - feels better carbonated than it looks. Fitting for a celebration beer.

Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass copper coloured, small head. Intense fruity aroma. Starts intense fruity, intense apricot notes, sourish notes more in the background. All in all well balanced. Dry-sour finish, less fruity. Nice one!

Variation on Alvinne’s Batch #1000, a very limited fruit edition with apricots added. Thanks Loik! Medium thick, creamy, pale greyish beige, bit irregular and opening but generally well-retaining head over a hazy, warm amberish peach blonde beer with some yeast dots near the bottom of the glass. Aroma strongly reminiscent of medium dry sherry, next to indeed (ripe) apricot, blue grapes, soaking wet oak wood, yoghurt, fermenting pear juice, dried ginger, gooseberry jam, dust, raspberry vinegar and something ‘green’ that can only come from the added apricots. Very fruity, tart and lively onset, lots of esters reminiscent of grape, gooseberry and passionfruit – so that initially at least, the apricot gets a bit ‘drowned’. The drying tartness, with a strong lactic-yoghurty character, further accompanies a supple, pleasantly rounded and well-measured bready and lightly caramelly malt sweetish core towards a rich finish of sherryish and sherry vinegar-like aspects – still refraining from becoming too harshly acidic though, nicely framed in a dusty, ‘rustic’ and tannic old wooden barrel presence and topped with a touch of late, spicy hop bitterness, in itself accentuated by a notable ‘green’ astringency – here’s the apricots again, because this effect is likely the result of their peel and seeds, and do indeed remind me of fresh apricots that are not entirely ripe yet. Lip-smacking, complex astringency indeed, balanced by a generous sweet maltiness and colourful esteriness – this is quite different from the regular Batch #1000, but another beautiful Alvinne sour in its own right.
