Dark brown pour with a small beige head, and lots of floaters. Lots of bready malts in the aroma with some minerals, soft grains, cereals, and quite a bit of alcohol. The carb is soft, and same for the mouthfeel. The finish is sweet, some decent toffee notes, and sme light roasted nuts, with more alcohol.

A deep dark brown bock with a thin big bubbled light mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity malt with dark fruits, licorice, light mineral notes, OK. In mouth, sweet fruity malt with dark fruits, molasses, alcohol warmth, still solid after 7 years.

650ml bottle from Big Ridge Liquor Store at Motrych’s. Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is sweet, dark fruits, toffee, caramel. Taste is pretty the same. Roasted malt aftertaste. Very good.

22 oz bottle. Pours a deep red amber with a tan head. Red apple fruity aroma. Flavor has red grape and molasses. A touch of oxidiation, as I suspect this bottle is aged a bit, but it’s not bad. Finishes clean. Not bad at all.

Poured from 650mL bottle. Clear, auburn brown with beige head. Subtle bitterness and sweetness leads to a complex, but lacking in a good balance. Seems it doesn’t quite know what it wants to be. I like it, but it’s missing something I can’t quite put my finger on. Some caramel, nuts, and resin.

Bottle - Toffee, raisin, toasted malts and rum. Clear but dark amber with a thin brown head. Boozy toffee, some dark fruit and alcohol burn. Finish has a bit of bitterness and is quite dry. Not very well balanced in my opinion and too much booze.

Oddly enough my bottle has very little purple going on like the photo, but more of a grey colour. Has a dark, but not jet black, body and decent dark beige head. Aroma is fusels and barley, some fruitiness and sugary notes; it smells like it’s been infused already, could be an over-alcoholized mess. Flavour is strong barley notes with a bit of rotten swamp in there and a burnt wood finish. Wonky aftertaste. This is an unbalanced doppelbock, probably appealing to some but certainly not me.

This bock poured a deep red colour with a quick living, soapy style, white head. Scents include ripe fruit, brandy, caramel and raisins. First sip was smooth and a little thin with flavours of the ripe fruit and roast. Finish is slightly sweet with ripe fruit flavours lingering.

(bottle) clear reddish brown colour with a small brown head; aromas of sweet stewed fruit, caramel; flavour starts sweet and transitions into long light bitter finish; very good

Bouteille 650ml.
