Leftover bottle from the family Thanksgiving dinner. Sure, why not. Yes, there's a mango smell under the cap. Mango is probably hard to make too strong, so that's a plus. Beer is cloudy, more of an apricot color, with a foamy head. Going to have to admit it's pretty pleasant at the first few sips. But there's something of a "fruit puree" quality to it, that maybe can't be helped. But worth a try.

Bottle. Mango, pear, malt, and light straw aroma. Hazy golden yellow with large white head. Moderately sweet mango, wheat malt, and mildly bitter herbal hay flavor. Very light body. Not as sweet as it smells - flavor actually kind of bland. --- Beer merged from original tick of Blue Moon Mango Wheat on 18 Nov 2017 at 21:23 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 5 | Flavor - 4 | Texture - 4 | Overall - 4. 12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 4/9/2018. Pours very hazy deep golden amber/light orange color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of juicy mangoes, melon, peach, pear, red apple, wheat, and biscuit; with light notes of honey, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of mangoes, fruity yeast, and bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big juicy mangoes, melon, peach, pear, red apple, wheat, and biscuit; with light notes of honey, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Mild herbal/grassy bitterness, fruit tang/tartness, and yeast spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of juicy mangoes, melon, peach, pear, red apple, wheat, biscuit, honey, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice robustness and balance of mangoes, fruity yeast, and bready malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitter/tart/spicy balance, and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Minimal dryness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, and slightly sticky/tangy mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.4%. Overall this is a really good fruited American pale wheat ale. All around nice robustness and balance of mangoes, fruity yeast, and bready malt flavors; very smooth and refreshing to drink with the mildly tart/bitter finish. Very flavorful for the ABV. Great balance of mangos and biscuity malts; with a solid fruity yeast profile, and just enough bitterness to balance the sweetness. A very enjoyable offering, and nice style example.

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours translucent gold with a white head. Ripe mango aroma. Med body, almost. Flavor is ripe mango and wheat. I think more barley would help. The wheat reduces the enjoyability of this particular fruit.

12oz bottle at a friends party. I mean, it’s like mango juice concentrate. I have no idea if it’s legitimate or if it’s like fake juice here. The mango notes cut into the wheat character you’d expect in a Blue Moon. Juicy. I want to slam it, but I’ll be honest. It was refreshing.

Bottle pour into shaker pint glass from Hannaford. Appearance is cloudy yellow with decent sparkle, finger-width fizzy white head with poor retention and trace lacing. Aroma is strong mango. Taste is strong mango bordering on the medicinal, late mild bitter. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thick texture, average carbonation and mix of sweet and lightly bitter finish. Overall, pretty much a one-trick pony. If you like mango you’ll likely really enjoy it, though it borders on cloying.
