Can pour into nonic pint glass from Greg & Janes Beer and Wine. Appearance is clear dark, dark brown and ruby, nice sparkle at the edge of the glass, 1/2-finger width light brown foamy head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is strong roasted malts, bordering on ash. Taste is strong roasted malt, chiles, cream, background dark fruits. Palate is medium bodied with smooth, thick texture, moderate chile heat that lasts, average carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, the chiles are certainly the stars of the show, but they don't quite overtake the base porter--there's enough there to provide interest. Nice Mexican porter.

12 ounce can into tulip glass, best before 10/3/2019. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1 finger dense and rocky khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, nuts, chili peppers, wood smoke, toasted biscuit, and dark bread/crust; with lighter notes of charcoal, molasses, dark fruit, herbal, wood, grass, peppercorn, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready/smoked malts and light-moderate chili pepper/earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, nuts, chili peppers, wood smoke, toasted biscuit, and dark bread/crust; with lighter notes of charcoal, molasses, dark fruit, herbal, wood, grass, peppercorn, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, woody, grassy, peppery hops; roast/char bitterness; and light chili pepper spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, nuts, chili peppers, wood smoke, toasted biscuit, dark bread/crust, charcoal, molasses, dark fruit, herbal, wood, grass, peppercorn, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready/smoked malts and light-moderate chili pepper/earthy hop flavors; with an awesome roast/hop bitter/sweet balance, and no acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready, and fairly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 7.2%. Slightly increasing pepper heat through the glass after the finish. Overall this is an excellent spiced American porter. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready/smoked malts and light-moderate chili pepper/earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/charred/drying finish. Very rich malt complexity and balancing earthy Mt Hood hops; great pepper flavor presence, without much spice or heat at all. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example as expected.

Can: Coffee nose, ancho accents. Cola brown, medium lacy tan head. Sweet coffee, cocoa, chili pepper, soil. Medium body, soft creamy mouthfeel, just prickly enough from the pepper addition. Great balance. I totally loved this.
