Ellicottville is home to two of the East’s premier ski resorts, which means we are also home to a colorful bunch of ‘ski bums’. These folks make the first tracks in the morning, catch the last chair of the evening, and still make last call. Our smooth auburn winter ale is a cheers to them! Brewed with centennial hops, moderate bitterness.

Sampled on draft at Urban Tap this beer poured an orange-amber color with a medium sized foamy orange-white head that left good lacing. The aroma was stone fruits, malt and a touch of medicine. The flavor was malty with light apricot, mild astringency. and an off medicinal note. Medium length finish. Medium body.

Bottle; market district. First taste is near cloying amber ale. Thick strong alky laced ale, fer sher. Difficult ruff rude ass ale, totally on style for a big alky malty ale. Near sterile volatile nose. Big nasty thick viscous mouth coating rude ass ale to the hilt. Medicine alky laced mouth coating near dizzying effects to the knoggin. Over the top in personality, really gitz in yer face and on the nerves. Hoppy bold giant dull kick in the head. Yes, this beach bum is gittin mellowed out, dude. Finish is kick ass full of hop boldness bullshitter. What is this? An amber that wants to be just another IPA? Could not appreciate.

Bottle. Weedy toffee malt aroma. Amber with large light tan head. Mildly sweet toffee malt and moderately bitter quinine/hay/orange peel flavor. Okay body. Harsh.

Bottle: (label says 6%) Clear, deep amber with a tall beige head. Caramel, grain aroma. Taste is mildly bitter, caramel malt, and a bit of mineral bittering. Overall.......bland and uninteresting.

Bottle @ home, picked up at Boulder Liquor Mart. Pours a hazy dark reddish orange appearance with a cream colored head. Bland, bitter hops in the nose. Very light citrus, a little pine, caramel. A little chalky in the mouth. Moderately spicy. Medium plus bitterness. Moderate sweetness. Toasted bread, light pine, dough. Boring.

12oz bottle from Wegmans, West Seneca, NY. A hazy amber pour with a scummy white head that laces the glass completely; citrus aroma with perhaps a trace of pineapple; big citrus hop taste, quite bitter and with a touch of spice; and a dry moreish finish.
