Double mash Imperial Goiabada & coconut Stout.
Perspective, what a motherfucker. It’s not uncommon for the same thing looked at from two different viewpoints to be seen slightly differently. Just like it isn’t unusual for minorly discrepant stuff to be acknowledged as equal. Same, same, but different. Different, different, but same. So when two brewers from one country currently brewing in opposite hemispheres teamed up to discuss a collaboration beer, the idea of playing with perception felt natural to both. And so it was that we sent our Brazilian import back to her homeland to play a little reference game with Cervejaria Dádiva. Would people there have conflicting opinions about a recipe released in two minorly modified versions? Would coconut outshine the original Goiabada imperial stout, or would the plain candy-like guava adjunct on its own appeal more? To take this further, we decided to fuck shit up by double mashing our own interpretation of Dádiva brewed ‘Point of View’, creating a fuller bodied beast – or beauty, depending on how you want to twist this. Your choice. Just make sure you try both before formulating an opinion. This still is a matter of perspective, after all.

Bottle, 0.33l. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, dried fruit and herbs. Pours almost black color with thin creamy brown head and average sparkling appearance. Taste starts with sweet and rich roasted malt and tart tropical fruity, following is grassy, woody and nutty with licorice and jammy note, mouthfeel is warm alcoholic and medium spicy, while finish is average bitter. Full body, thick texture and average carbonation in palate. Guava yes, coconut not really...

Bottle courtesy of fonefan. Black, lsting light brown head. Chocolate aroma, heavy dark malt, light coconut. Thick, smooth mouthfeel. Sweet flavour, Chocolate, bitter chocolate, roasted malt, light notes of sweet and fruity lemons - could be the guava. Heavy and slightly alcoholic - definately has some warmth to it.

batch 1922 bottle from menu. pitch dark smooth brown head. roasted malty aroma, milder than the one without coconut, besides roasted malts, also a sweet note that is probably coconut but also resembles vanilla a bit. flavor is roasted malts, good bitterness, quite rounded, oats, woody or nutty bitterness, good long roasted malty aftertaste, guava and coconut does not get in the way, beer flavor is surprisingly well rounded. palate is soft and thick. i get a faint note of something resembling a metallic note to the flavor. bit strange. at times the guava sourness / sweet citrus fruitiness can be tasted too.
