Double mash Imperial Goiabada & coconut Stout.
Perspective, what a motherfucker. It’s not uncommon for the same thing looked at from two different viewpoints to be seen slightly differently. Just like it isn’t unusual for minorly discrepant stuff to be acknowledged as equal. Same, same, but different. Different, different, but same. So when two brewers from one country currently brewing in opposite hemispheres teamed up to discuss a collaboration beer, the idea of playing with perception felt natural to both. And so it was that we sent our Brazilian import back to her homeland to play a little reference game with Cervejaria Dádiva. Would people there have conflicting opinions about a recipe released in two minorly modified versions? Would coconut outshine the original Goiabada imperial stout, or would the plain candy-like guava adjunct on its own appeal more? To take this further, we decided to fuck shit up by double mashing our own interpretation of Dádiva brewed ‘Point of View’, creating a fuller bodied beast – or beauty, depending on how you want to twist this. Your choice. Just make sure you try both before formulating an opinion. This still is a matter of perspective, after all.

30 November 2018. Billie's Craft Beer Fest. Cheers to Anke, tderoeck & 77ships! Cloudy black with a lasting, thin, frothy, beige head; little lacing. Aroma of coffee pad, (fake) chocolate, industrially processed nuts, dark fruits, raisin (perhaps the guava too?), weird notes of wet cloth & wet dog. Taste is medium malty sweet, chocolatey, a bit nutty too, and light to medium roasted bitter, hint of coffee pad, not too firm and somewhat flattened by a weird & watery touch of wet dog and a sourish, wheaty & lemony accent. Dryish, toasty, faintly peppery hoppy finish, warming liqueur alcohol, yet not too strong and toned down again by something watery & wet dog-like. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Perhaps something went wrong here but this is not what I expected...

Sampled at Billies 2018. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized brown colored head. Smell and taste malts, brown and roasted malts quite strongly. Not sure I get coconut. The roast is so firm it almost makes the beer lean towards a light tart. 7-5-5-4-11.

Clear dark brown black beer, small to no head. Aroma: nice roast, alcohol, sweet caramel malts, chocolate. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: ah, lots of roast, coffee notes, bit sourish, maybe infected? Something is weird. Aftertaste: bitter, lots of roast, alcohol, some dark chocolate.

Solid Danish Brazilian motherfucker this one. Would have liked to try the other version also. Mostly weird. Mild coconut, chocolate, licorice, fruity and some kind of acidity in the back. Freshens it up a bit.
