i wonder if this was an old bottle as the hops were really subdued. +++ Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a medium caramel color with a medium sized foamy tan head that left decent lacing. The aroma was sweet caramel, moderate pine and grapefruit. The flavor was tangy caramel and nut with notes of grapefruit, pine and black tea. Medium length sour and tangy finish with lingering nut, caramel and hops. Medium body. Ok.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Norm's, 3/22/12

Aroma: The nose has some floral hops, booze, a little bit pine and earth, and a touch of orange
Appearance: Pours a cloudy dark orange-brown color with a small off-white head and medium lace
Flavor: The taste is mostly sweet and sticky, with quite a bit of booze, and a little bit of hop bitterness
Palate: It is medium bodied, the feel up-front it is a little sticky, later is gets drier and hot for an 8% beer
Overall Impression: I wasn't really impressed with this one. Personally, I didn't get nearly enough hops here. There wasn't really any resin or citrus, and there was way too much heat for an 8% DIPA. I just couldn't get over that weird, dry-hot finish. It didn't go over well. Maybe if this was a 12% Barleywine I would have liked it better, but as a DIPA, It just didn't really work...

A hazed reddish amber ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, a doughy malt over floral hops, faint and restrained. In mouth, a good malt base with nice floral c-hops, grapefruits, medium bodied. On tap at brewery restaurant, April 10th, 2011.
