Crafting delicious beer doesn’t start with ingredients. It starts with exploration. Back in the 90s, our constant need to experiment with culinary ingredients was considered heresy by some. But it was the passion and the constant trial and error that led to pure alchemy, and we began brewing with real fruit pulled from our brewpub kitchen. Made with sweet apricots, Aprihop blazed the trail as one of the first fruit-infused IPAs.
That ongoing journey continues today with Flesh & Blood IPA. We could save time and money by brewing with fruit extracts. But for us, authenticity counts. And when we say we brew with real fruit, we mean it.

Brewed with mouth-puckering lemon flesh, sweet orange peel and blood orange juice, Flesh & Blood balances the resinous hoppy characteristics of an American IPA with the explosive zesty fruitiness and subtle drying tartness of citrus to deliver a highly quaffable ale that’s incredibly unique and lovely to down the whole year round.

An interesting new take on the fruity IPA. A dark copper body with an active off white head. The nose features fruit juice, fruit rind and caramel malt. A fruit bomb that is not a total hop bomb! Citrus fruit juice galore here, with orange, lemon, grapefruit and pineapple elements. A rindy hoppiness builds as the drink progresses. Supported by a solid biscuit caramel malt backbone.

Bottle. Copper colored with a medium sized head. Aroma was very citrusy. Taste was not overpoweringly citrus, really pleasant with a slight bitter finish.

Bottle from Beergium. Aroma is strong citrus, juicy blood orange, hops, caramel malt, orange zest, grapefruit, with some resinous notes. Flavour is mildly sweetish and medium bitter. Body is medium. Not a great IPA per se, bit too candied with caramel malts, but definitely an enjoyable sweetish blood orange IPA.

This 12 oz can will be tilted into my large New Belgium snifter, how long have I had this glass and how many brews have been tasted in it? No answers really, mostly existential questions. Dogfish Head mostly a favored brewer, I hope that continues now. The liquid is an extremely attractive dark, amber-red completed by an impressive two fingers of doe-brown foam. And the nose is decent also, light pine and sweet citrus. I like the taste, I get pine needles, citrus from the blood orange I assume, varnish, some sweetness and some bitterness. On a rather warm late May afternoon, this is a nice diversion from the heat.

Bottle. Reddish amber color. Floral aroma with orange peel. Blood orange. Soft tart flavor, floral, with Blood orange, orange peel And lemon. Hint of metal in the finish.

Keg at the yard house Las Vegas Town Square. A clear amber orange coloured pour with a lasting fine off white head. Aroma is neutral, subdued, faint biscuit and citrus. Palate is semi crisp and tart, sweet, highish carbonation. Flavour is composed of spicy Rye, cittus, bitter lemon, little bark. Some warming alcohol. Disappointing.

Can at home in NH. Pours clear orange-gold with a foamy, white head. So so, some pine, citrus peel, dry grains, citric hops. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with more citric notes, lightly tangy blood orange, grapefruit. Eh, OK.
