tap at Hoppy Gnome - Pours black with a lasting tan head. It smells of dark roast malt, chocolate, and mild coffee notes. The flavor is sweet and chocolate rich with roast malt character. The hop bitterness is mild. It’s mostly on the sweet side. Full bodied. Bourbon? Minimal. It’s very tasty though.

Bottle. Coffee, chocolate fudge malt and hay aroma. Black with small head. Earthy sweet chocolate malt and moderately bitter herbal coffee flavor. Body on the lighter side. Light bourbon aftertaste.

Bottle: Pours black with an awesome, thick, cascading dark head...almost chunky..... Wish I could give the appearance a 6....beautiful beer. Aroma is malty, milk chocolate, vanilla cream. Taste is silky-smooth, dark, sweet chocolate malt, creamy vanilla, sweet coffee roast....just a hint of plum/raisin... and a hint of sweet bourbon as it warms.....chewy and big. Excellent.

650 ml purchased at Hunger Mountain Co Op many months ago. Pitch black color with slowly dying head. Aroma is nice, charred malt, chocolate, with just a hint of barrel.
The chocolate is forward in the flavor with vanilla, coffee and a mild bourbon treatment. Really nice balance of malt and bourbon. Mouthfeel is borderline full with a stout like body. Nice stuff.

Poured from bottle thanks Airforcehops. Dark cola pour with a lacey dark tan head. Aromas of coffe roasted malt dark fruit and caramel. Taste is similar to aroma with a nice bourbon vanilla caramel finish. A nice drinker.

22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 4/3/2015. Pours dense pitch black color with a 2 finger dense dark tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, toffee, toast, vanilla, bourbon, oak, light coconut, light herbal, and roast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt, coffee, and bourbon barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, toffee, toast, vanilla, bourbon, oak, light coconut, light herbal, and roast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate coffee bitterness/oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, toffee, toast, vanilla, bourbon, oak, light coconut/herbal, and roast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt, coffee, and bourbon barrel flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, moderately creamy, and lightly slick/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is an incredible barrel aged coffee porter. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt, coffee, and bourbon barrel flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a black color with a medium sized foamy dark brown head that left no lacing. The aroma was rough roasty malts, dark fruits and coffee. The flavor was tangy and sourish malts, strong coffee, dark fruits and a hint of cocoa. Very long finish. Full body. Interesting.
