Bottle purchase at One Stop Market. I fell like a lot of people don’t appreciate some of the old school German styles. This is a nicely hopped German bock that is under rated in my eyes. Dark Amber color with thin lasting head. Aroma is earthy malts, pine and toasted caramel malt.

The flavor has the essence of autumn throughout the sip. Earthy Munich malt that gives a dried leaves note upfront with a mild toasted grain and cracker like backbone. Mild hits of caramelized sugar. Before the beer becomes to sweet from the malt, a nice level of citrus and pine hops show in the backend of the sip to balance everything out. Moderate level of bitterness. I want to drink more after the bottle is empty and I really dare somebody to find me a better brew in this updated American version of this classic German style lager.

Very finely crafted.

Bottle as shown. Pours a cloudy orange with small frothy white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is caramel, pine, and herbs. Medium mouthfeel with light caramel malt and wet biscuit. Good.

Bottle. Pours clear reddish amber with a small off-white head that sticks around fairly well and laces nicely. Aroma is pine, citrus, dark bread, caramel. Flavor follows, light plus sweet, pine and citrus hops sitting on top of a bready pumpernickel malt base. Bock-IPA is the newest rate beer style? Pretty tasty one at that. Medium body, nice carbonation. A bit of heat apparent, which is surprising at 6.8%

Bottle. Pours a near clear amber with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of musty and earthy grains with a hint of underlying sweetness. Flavor is similar with musty earthy grains up front with a bit of sweetness and crispness coming out in the finish.

Bottle @ home, sent via courtesy wale slaying of LOINESHAWN. Thanks. Pours a hazy dark reddish orange appearance with a cream colored head. Fairly spicy, piney hoppy, nutty, toasted malty aroma. Kind of nutty, woody herbal, a bit burnt grainy, spicy hoppy flavor. Decent but nothing like some of their other offerings just now.

Bottle in NH. Pours clear amber with a soft, creamy white head. The nose holds sweet fruits, berries and leaves. Medium sweet flavor with dried bread, grains, toasted brown sugar, leafy bitterness. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet finish with piney hops, more grainy bread, dry grass, dried berries. Very decent.

50cl bottle pours a clear, honey brown with some frothy white head. Nose was inviting if not a little muddled, some lemon, citrus peel, grass, pine needles, a little malt, biscuit. Flavor was nice too, sweet, malty, crackers, lemon, grass, a little lemon grass. Medium, dry finish. Well balanced.

Pours a clear, deep, orange/amber color with a huge bubbly beige head that takes forever to recede. Smells of sweet bready caramel with a spicy, earthy, mineral edge to provide some balance. The flavor is quite sweet which threw me a bit until I noticed that the beer is named hopbock not hopback. Sweet caramel toffee and bready with a spicy earthy hop flavor. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet spicy mouthfeel. This is a nice hoppy bock style beer I really enjoyed it.

Pours clear amber-red into a Sam glass. Off-white head with excellent retention recedes leaving spider lacing. Sweet caramel and resin aromas. Medium bodied with sweet caramel turning quickly to an earthy bitterness before the lasting resin finish.
