Wet Hot American Wheat is named for it’s particularly “wet” mash and “hot” initial fermentation temperature. It is brewed and dry hopped with Centennial and Columbus hops and utilizes two different kinds of wheat malt, White wheat and Torrified wheat. This beer has an initial sweetness that is balanced by hop additions late in the boil.

Draught @ Kaunis Kampela. Rated on 29.01.2016
Aroma has hrapefruit and earthy notes. Flavour has urinal, grapefruit and earthyness. Bretta is strong here. A bit harsh and floury finish. Refreshing anyway.

Tap at Beer Hunters, Pori. Hazy yellow color, small steady white head, lace. Wheaty, herbal aroma. Light-bodied. Wheat, grapefruit, zesty and yeasty. Tartish bretta finish. Not my style of wheat.

(Keg at Kittys, 20160317) The beer poured clear and mahogany coloured. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had fruitiness and herbalness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, fruitiness, malts, creamy toffee and bitterness. Aftertaste had creamy toffee and bitterness. A nice and soft hoppy pale ale.

This was poured into a nonic pint glass.
The appearance was a hazy burnt orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than about thirty seconds. A light foamy to bubbly white lacing stuck around the sides of the glass.
The smell had a semi-sweet to bitter citrus rind, light pine underscored by a light caramel malt base.
The taste was mainly sweet with the bitterness making a good effort to combine but it does have a semi-dry light piney aftertaste leading into a dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fairly light allowing the wheat to give a bit more body.
Overall, I’d say that I’d have this again, preferably in the Summer when it’s fresh. Right now, it’s too cold for this.
