A small bottle from the off-licence opposite Jing Mei fire station. Aroma: very rich, predominantly chocolate. Appearance: opaque cola, massive head of tan cream, fills a 500ml. mug to the brim, looks beautiful. Palate: full-bodied with a full and chewy mouth feel, softish carbonation; finishes long and roasty. Taste: lightly bitter, sweet notes defer to the roast; chocolate from the aroma outweighed by a big coffee hit. Alcohol sneaks in through the back door. Pretty good, could do with a slightly sweeter finish.

On tap at Dutch Taproom. Pours black with a tan head. Dry toasted malts and a touch of black liquorice on the nose. Flavour has tons of dry coffee and burnt toast. Full-bodied. This is a great, dry imperial stout.

Il naso riconosce sentori di caffè e di cioccolato. La finezza olfattiva è gratificante e molto elevata e l'esistenza olfattiva è pregevole. Il manto birroso superiore color marrone castagno è destinato a vita breve. Il colore è scuro impenetrabile. Il corpo è strutturato, complesso e multidimensionale. Il dolce è medio. L'amaro è nella norma. La forza gustativa è molto elevata e la durata è buona, lunga e persistente. Le sensazioni boccali finali risultano di birra beverina e inducono a bevuta compulsiva. Il retrogusto è intenso e persistente. Al palato arrivano note di miele, crosta di panettone, cioccolato fondente, caffè, frutta secca, fiori, agrumi, arancia, mandarino, frutta passita, mandorla fresca, vino Porto, bruciato, liquirizia, vaniglia, trasformando la bocca in uno scrigno di tesori.

The Dutch might not be able to make a good IPA, but De Molen has proven they can make an excellent imperial stout! Under a thick reddish head is a balanced and rich taste profile, including ripe dark berries, milk chocolate, mid-range coffee and earthy malts. Clean and non-acidic. Very well made IS.

Bottle at home, köszi Panni!! Pours jet black with beige head. It's super dark and roasted malty both in aroma and taste, quite earthy with a touch of coffee and a boozy kick. Closes with boozy and roasted finish, has medium to heavy body and soft carbo. Perhaps a bit too much roasted character in there for me, but it's a delicious oldschool RIS nevertheless.

Bottle au cheval blanc, during mondiale week.
Jet black pour, no head. Aroma of intense burnt malts, espresso, dark soy, and a touch of bitter licorice. Intense mouthfeel, thick and viscous, coats my palate. Warming from the alcohol is very present, quite bitter finish, with a solid sweet coffee mixed with bitter cocoa finish.

Aroma of roasted malt, cocoa, lots of sweet chocolate, espresso coffee notes, some dark fruity notes, hint of liquorice. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet with a nice moderate bitter finish. Easily drinkable and delicious chocolate Imperial Stout.

Аромат ванильный, немного винный, алкогольный, сильный в целом. Пена легкая кофейная, цвет как и положено угольно-черный. Вкус весьма мягкий, винный, в меру сладкий, ванильный. Послевкусие начинается с хорошей кофейной кислинки. Далее идет добротный бельгийский шоколад. В целом очень сбалансированный Имперский стаут.

Best after that sugary sweet mead. Very mild stout with a almost carbonated aftertaste.
