If you look closely, you can imagine the magic of the dusk light on the mountains reflected in the amazing color of this brew. Unfiltered with a foggy appearance and light aromas of wheat, bubblegum, clove, and spice. Finishes silky smooth. Take a sip and set your mind aglow.

Draught @ Beer Shop, Oak Park (Jan 2024). Lightly murky brown with copper highlights, creamy beige head, toasted bread aroma with coffee, low carbonation, medium bitter mocha taste with faint tartness, smooth thin body, long toasted bread-mocha finish. Very smooth and easy to drink.

16 ounce can from Trenton Road Takeout. Can say’s 8.5% ABV and 20 IBU’s. RateBeer listing says this is “Out of Production “, but I beg to differ. Slightly hazy orange brown color. Frothy tan head dissipates to a small manageable cap. Sweet, spicy toasted malt aroma hints at brown sugar. Flavor brings notes of toffee and sweet marzipan. Warming alcohol in middle. Rich and malty, but very approachable for the style. Quite delicious.

Light smoke and some orange tang. A littlw tobacco. Interesting, and well done for style. Dark brownish pour with good head and lacing. Light sweet and tangy finish. Tap at brewpub.

Keg at the PDX brewpub, 09/11/14. Murky chestnut brown with a moderate beige covering. Nose is dark fruit rinds, spice, light booze notes, varnish, toffee. Taste comprises toffee, bitter dark fruits, light wood, spice. Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close with sweet licks and bitter notes. Decent enough representation of the style if a little sweet at times.

On tap at Fat Head's Portland, pours an opaque dark red / burgundy with a small tan head. Aroma is intense, with notes of caramel, dark fruits and toasted nuts. Flavour is along the same lines, with strong dried dark fruits, caramel and brown sugar. A totally American doppelbock, but I like it all the same. Nice syrupy sweet beer without being cloying in any way.

On tap at the Pittsburgh location. Pours turbid crimson with small off-white head. Aroma is banana, medium body, and low carbonation. Taste is bready and some banana. I have many other weizenbocks I prefer.

Sample at the brewpub. Murky brownish-orange color with a medium foamy light beige head that recedes slowly. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt and bananas. Medium-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, banana and sweet spices. The finish is malty with a clove and ginger aftertaste. Above average overall.

Sampled on draft at the House of 1000 Beers this beer poured a very dark brown color with a large foamy tan head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was dark fruits, bread, cracker, faint caramel and red wine. The flavor was sweet and tart dark fruits, cracker, caramel and hints of rum, toffee and a boozy presence. Long dark fruit and rum finish. Medium body. Interesting.

On tap at Fat Heads. Pours a deep dark copper color with a small white head. A big banana and yeasty nose. A huge spicy flavor, some Christmas cake, clove and more banana, easygoing and not hot. Good.
