According to Montana legend, deep in the expanse of the Bob Marshal Wilderness there lives a small band of rugged and ferocious.... Chihuahuas. Bobo is the packs’ Alpha Male, and in a word he is ROBUST. So naturally we thought he deserved his own delicous Robust Porter.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best by 4/11/2012. Pours clear cery dark brown color with a nice 1-2 finger dense tan head with good retention that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Some nice spotty lacing on the glass. Aromas of big chocolate, caramel, roasted malt, light coffee, and herbal hops. Nice and well balanced aromas with good strength. Taste of big chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, caramel, and herbal hops. Fair amount of coffee bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, caramel, and herbal hops on the finish for a bit. Very nice flavor balance. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy and smooth mouthfeel. Alcohol is well hidden with hardly any warming noticed. Very easy to drink as expected for 6.2%. Overall this is a damn nice and straightforward robust porter. Great flavor balance and very easy to drink.

12oz bottle from Pick’s poured into a shaker. Pours black with no head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and caramel. Taste is light-medium bitter. Lots of cold coffee with a good amount of milk chocolate and a decent bit of caramel. Medium bodied with a creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, this is great. Probably the best porter you can get for the price.

12 oz bottle. Pours opaque black with ruby-red edges and a small beige head that falls into a skiff of foam fairly quick. Aroma is bready, chocolate milk, coffee. Taste starts out sweet and finishes bitter; it’s very robust. Carbonation is average, body could be bigger. Nice porter.

12oz bottle. Pours a deep black. Deep beige-brown head that fades down to a steady, oily top after a minute or so. Malty chocolate milkshake aroma. Big chocolate tastes. Heavy on the specialty malts for sure, but it works. Mild hop presence gives it some balance and depth. Quite thick and rich, but still true to style. Caramel, vanilla, coffee, all smothered in chocolate. Pretty good stuff

Bottle Pours a very dark brown/black with a modest and quickly fading rich milk-chocolate colored head. Chocolaty mocha aroma and a rich bitter chocolate flavor. Not sure I would call this "Generously" hopped but nicely bittered (and not in a piney/citrusy way) and big on the dark malts. That sour slant that most porters have is more subtle here, which I like. On the sweet side a bit. I think of Big Sky as sort of a "second division" brewer but this little gem gives me hope. A pleasant surprise and quite delicious.

Bottle. Poured black brown with medium lasting tan head. Aroma is roast malt, chocolate and caramel. Full flavour, bittersweet chocolate, roast and some unsweetened coffee. Medium body. Malty finish without being cloying and a tinge of bitter hop. A good porter

Bottle - thanks BuckeyeBoy. Pours a very dark, dark brown color with a large, creamy brown head. Nose is full of roast and light tones of coffee and chocolate. Rich flavor is coffee oriented, with a heavy roast component. Faint chocolate and lightly bittersweet like baker’s cocoa. Just a huge roasty presence that makes it seem mostly like roast and coffee.

Bottle from Total Wine in Roseville, CA. Pours very black with a creamy, 3 finger, dark tan head. Very nice chocolate nose. Medium plus body with foamy carbonation. It’s chocolate, very, with some coffee that comes out. Nicely bitter finish. Pretty good stuff.
