Our tribute to the Scottish Highlands, this beer offers a gorgeous garnet color joined by the aroma of ripe plums and freshly-baked biscuits. The rich, full-bodied texture reveals notes of roasted chestnuts and caramel, in a smooth, single-malt style of brew. Balanced with just the right amount of hop character, this beer delights with crisp alcohol finish.

Thanks Mike. Enjoyed in a wine glass. Poured a pretty dark 1 finger head faded to a thin layer. Smells of a bit of whiskey, sweet corn, amber malts and a hint of smoke. I get a currants note and pretty much taste matches exactly what I get on the nose. Very simple sort of disappointing beer.

12 ounce bottle courtesy of my friend Eric. Thanks! Pours a clear dark brown color with a thin creamy tan head. Fair head retention. Aroma of toffee malts, big earthy notes, a bit of anise, rye and chocolate. The taste is earthy, toffee, dry cranberry-ish fruits, mild anise, chocolate. Medium bodied, faint booze. Nice Scotch Ale.

I tend not to be a huge fan of this style or even this brewer but this one a quite nice beer. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very dark brown color with a medium sized foamy tan head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was molasses, caramel, nut and light notes of cherry and berry followed by hints of cocoa and anise. There was a touch of alcohol on the nose. The flavor was molasses, caramel, raisin, cherry, nut, sour berries and toffee. The finish was very long sour cherry, raisin and molasses. Fairly full bodied. Well done.

Bottle. Dusty prune, caramel malt, alcohol, and hay aroma. Dark brown color with moderate head. Moderately sweet nutty raisin caramel malt and moderately bitter herbal hops and alcohol flavor. Good body.

12 oz bottle. Pours reddish brown with an off-white head. Aroma has toffee, dark fruit, and some caramel. Flavor is somewhat smoky, with cherry, toffee, smoky peated malts that border on bacon, almost hints of cocoa. Fairly sweet. Tasting quite good right now.

12oz bottle from Woodmans poured into a Lager glass. Pours a dark nut brown with a small bit of off-white head. Aroma is roasty malt and citrus hops. Taste is lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Has strong caramel taste. Medium bodied with a thick texture. Soft carbonation and a long slightly bitter finish. Overall, this is damn good. Very glad I bought a 6-pack so I can have more than one.

(Bottle, Monk’s Café Wallingatan, Stockholm) Dark brown colour, almost black, with brief beige head. Malty, fruity nose with dried fruit, raisins, prunes and caramel. Malty, fruity taste with notes of dried fruit, raisins, prunes, dark bread, caramel and a spicy finish. More than medium body, fairly sweet. Nice and tasty beer with a certain kick.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Gilly's, 2/24/10

Aroma: Lots of dark malts, caramel, light fruit notes, some earth
Appearance: Pours a dark brown color with a slight red hue
Flavor: Flavor is burnt malts, some sweet caramel, some earthy bitterness
Palate: Medium bodied, average (plus) carbonation, somewhat oily, some booze
Overall Impression: A pretty nice Scotch Ale. Dominated mostly by the dark malt flavors. It makes for a very nice beer. I liked this one, pretty enjoyable, not overly complex, but a nice drinker.
