Pour is a dark brown with a large tan head. Aroma is roasted nuts with some cocoa and sugar. Flavor is roasted malts with some sweetness. Finish is really sweet. This was ok for a brown ale.

12oz bottle. "Nova Scotia Style" trickery...brewed in St Louis. Amber-brown, frothy off-white head laces the glass. Nutty, somewhat fruity malt aroma. Medium bodied, some burnt caramel Dunkel tones, some questionable pungent maple tones. Simple and subdued, easy to put away, with a raisin finish. Unimpressive.

Brand new at a local bottle shop. Pour is definately brown, has a heller kind of aroma. Rather crisp palate with a bit of processed somethin goin on. My bottle says made in st louis; not canada. Comes in average in the alky taste bud impact. Finish can be weirdly bitter, but not over the top. Refeshing but oddly has a few bad lager characteristics aboout itself.

Sign of the Whale, DC tap ($6): I wanted a different beer, but they gave me this beer for happy hour prices, so I was happy. In any case, it pours a brown color with a cream colored head. Aroma is of nutty malts, but it is not very powerful. Taste is somewhat metallic. A bunch of caramel and molasses in the taste. The taste is, however, pretty thin. Not a very good brown ale. I wasn’t expecting much anyway.
